Never had one before but it cleaned my iron tip great and kept it clean and ready to tin quickly and easily, good size and I LOVE the iron rest!

Quicker and better than a wet sponge
Ideally you would have both this and a wet sponge, with the sponge being a last clean up process however if you had to pick one of the two this would be 100% the correct choice.Cleaning the tip is quick, you stick it in there, twist, twirl, backflip and it's all clean. Very simple item with infinite usefulness. The brass is actually high quality, it doesn't flake or get burned.

A DIY Soldering Kit Must Have!
For any at-home DIY soldering kit having a good tip cleaner is a must-have. Making this the perfect solution as my inexpensive soldering kit did not come with a usable tip cleaner. The biggest upside is not having to cool the iron down, you can clean as you go.This works amazingly well for cleaning my soldering tips, but for what it is, spending $14 does not feel like the best value, but at least it works, I would not spend more than $15 though. For those looking for a soldering tip cleaner, I can recommend this as an option.

A little light but great value for the money
Works well and exactly it’s as pictured. I wasn’t sure how good these brass tip cleaners were until I tried it. So much better than a wet sponge! Why do expensive soldering stations still come with a sponges? I can honestly say I will never go back to using sponges if my last few experiences are any indication. No water required, so it’s even easier to use. The temperature in your tip doesn't fluctuate as much as it would with a sponge. This product will keep your soldering tips so clean, they will almost look new! If you do any soldering at all, you need this product!Pros:- Lightweight- Efficient at cleaning the tips quickly-No more heading to the kitchen to wet the sponge or waiting for the iron to heat back up. Just stab the iron in a few times and it comes out nice and clean!Cons:- Almost too light. Needs to be held in place during a cleaning which is a potential hazzard if not careful.I would still recommend.

Great iron holder, but not great for cleaning
So this thing is solid and the resting arm snaps into place easily as well but still folds away easily.I must say the item is a lot larger than I was expecting (almost hockey puck size) which makes it a little awkward to use. My soldering iron would roll off unless placed very specifically resting on the base and on the arm at the same time. I also found that the brass wire cleaner didn't work as well as a regular sponge at cleaning tips either. However because of the solid construction and just what's part of the package, I feel like it is a good option. For my tools it is definitely the overkill option.
