Genuinely one of the best purchases I’ve ever made.
I kid you not. It’s hard to explain but this is just a perfect small flashlight. It’s basically indestructible. It has intuitive 1 button controls for 3 brightnesses, turbo mode, and strobe. It has a strong magnet on the back (very useful for working on cars, on PCs etc), has a clip for your pocket/belt, or clips right on your hat perfectly oriented (I never ever use a headlamp anymore), it has a nice magnetic charger with clear indicator light, it uses a common easily removable battery which can be replaced even though my battery still holds a great charge after a year of regular use.One quick note about brightness, you’ll read a bunch of cheap Chinese clones talk about ridiculous brightnesses, but it’s mostly bs. This thing is honestly bright enough on its standard settings for any common use case, and turbo is so bright it is essentially a car headlight. You won’t be disappointed. This is now something I have gifted over and over, and likely something I’ll give to my groomsmen instead of the rest obligatory zippo/gerber everyone else does.If you buy this is regret it - I’d be amazed.

Great light, perfect for everyday carry.
The baton series are great lights. I had the previous version to this, the S1R Baton 2, for years and loved it. I misplaced it on a trip out of town and immediately ordered the latest version when I got back home. This light is part of my daily pocket carry. The UI is very easy to pick up. Although not simple enough to just hand off to someone and expect them to know how to use it. Meaning, it’s not just a single brightness with an on/off button. It will default to the medium brightness setting after remaining off for 10 min or so. If you’re an edc enthusiast, then you’ll have no problem figuring out the UI. If this is your first time with a light like this, a quick read over the manual and you will have it memorized in no time.Battery life is very good for the way I use it. My most common use it walking outside to my car at night or a quick inspection at work. I’ve also used it for short walks at night on the lower brightness settings with great success as well. It can be used as a work light on a higher setting in a pinch, but might not last long enough to get the job done. Two aspects I love most about this light are the magnetic tail cap and dual pocket clip. I use the magnetic tail cap often when doing some quick work on the car. I also use the pocket clip attached to my hat brim more often then I thought I would. I don’t need a dedicated headlamp and this works perfect in a pinch when I need my hands free. The color temperature is a little on the cold side compared to other brands of lights I’ve used. Meaning is has more of a blueish tint. Olight is now offering some of there other lights in warmer temperatures, but have yet to offer it on the Baton 3. This is a minor detail, but I thought it worth mentioning. The battery is removable and replacements are available. It is a proprietary version of a 16340 due to the magnetic charging tailcap. I have never had to replace the battery and have always used the one provided with no problems or need for a spare.Overall it is a great light. I never leave the house without it and use it on a daily basis. I plan to expand my collection with some of Olights other offerings in the future.

Seriously small, high quality, bright light.
I’m not a flashlight collector and only own flashlights that I intend to use. Other than cheap flashlights that I’ve been given I only own one other high quality flashlight that I bought for home use. It’s a Streamlight casting a 3,000 lumen beam. It’s great for household use but is too large to carry for any length of time without a holster. I use it in or out of the house and it has an enormous amount of light - too much light to direct toward neighbors’ homes. I bought the Baton 3 for a pocket light so I had something to carry in my pocket on predawn walks. I already wear a headlamp to illuminate my walking path but wanted a handheld to illuminate animals or people I might unexpectedly encounter at 5:00 AM (it happens). I was not expecting the carry light to be a possible defensive weapon and it is not.The Baton 3 is a larger in diameter but shorter than the lip balm I carry in my jeans’ pocket. It is really small. The operating button is also small but is large enough to locate without looking at and the functions work well, are easy to use, intuitive, and convenient. The light creates a fantastic, nicely spread beam and the throw is as advertised. I haven’t had it long enough to comment on battery life or usage time with a full charge. The light is not intended to have a standard, off the shelf, replacement battery so if you want a backup battery you should order one. The unique battery design and shape provides a lot of storage in a small space. I knew the replacement or additional battery could only come from Olight when I ordered it but wanted the size, power and (claimed) battery life. I don’t have backup batteries for other long-life rechargeable items and if I need a replacement I’l order one. The included charger is also well made and it is not an issue (to me) that the light does not accept other chargers. To me, not having a port for the charger penetrating the exterior of the flashlight body is a plus (charger is magnetic and firmly attaches to the end of the flashlight body).I have a strong bias in favor of high quality and will pay more for something well made rather than fuss with something cheap (inexpensive and well made is a plus but I’ll go with quality over price anytime if quality is better). The Baton 3 is very well made, high quality, works as stated, and is SMALL. I recommend the flashlight if you want an occasional use, bright, powerful, pocket carry flashlight. It’s too cold and icy to walk today but I’m looking forward to using the light on my regular walk. I’m impressed and will probably buy a couple more for vehicles.
