Best pencil sharpener. I have bought these as gifts for other teachers. Because it prevents over-sharpening, students do not grind away over and over as they keep breaking the tip. Much quieter than an electric. After giving a few demonstrations, students are able to use with ease.Remind them it is not a fidget toy because the spring loaded holders can break when played with by a rambunctious child.

Usage isn’t typical, and my students—who also love the sharpener—consider it a duty of honor to ensure that every new user is properly informed about the technique.It is such a good sharpener I have had to institute a limit on sharpening because my cherubs became little point snobs, insisting that their clearly still visible points had been rendered inferior and required recalibration. A very proud moment for the biggest point snob of them all. :)As we have been connecting online courtesy of Covid-19, many have mentioned during our Google Meet sessions how much they miss the sharpener. No joke.

These are the absolute best pencil sharpeners to use in the classroom! They sharpen as well as electric sharpeners, last longer, and hardly make any noise! They even hold the pencil in place and secure to the table so that your hands are free to crank/steady yourself on the table. Oh, and they don't break the bank!You do need to empty the tray as soon as it is full to avoid jamming the sharpener and teach students how to use them properly because they are different from other hand crank sharpeners. As long as you do both of those things, these will last you a long time!My only complaint is that if the tray does overflow, it is difficult to clean the pencil shavings out from the compartment without removing the entire sharpener to the trash can. This isn't a huge deal for personal use, but can become messy in the classroom. I keep a place mat under mine to dump the occasional pencil shavings that don't make it out neatly.

My students prefer using this pencil sharpener over an electric sharpener. This sharpens very quietly...

I have had mine for over a year in my First Grade classroom and they are still sharp. The kids can very easily learn to use them. I do wish they were easier to attach to a table. The clamp provided comes loose after one use. I have taught my students how to hold the top of the sharpener so I don't clamp them any more. They have lasted longer than any of the 3 or so electric sharpeners I have purchased for my classroom in the past.

So far so good. I purchased a different brand last time, and the part that keeps tension on the pencil became loose. I constantly get asked by students now to sharpen their pencil with that sharpener. I read reviews that this sharpener will leave “teeth” marks in the pencil. It left some minor knicks, but that just proves to me that it will keep the pencil secure. I’ll update the review once children get their little hands on it to see if it can withstand.

The perfect classroom pencil sharpener. You do need to show your students how to use it, but even they like how easy it is and how sharp their pencils are when they use it. Highly recommend.
