The turntable in my microwave works again!
The turntable in my microwave gave out months ago. I had been toying with the idea of replacing the microwave or calling in a service technician, but then it occurred to me to check youtube for instructions on how to fix this. Once I saw the video and realized how easy it was to fix, I removed the screws to check the current turntable motor to be sure to order the right one, and then placed the order. Took all of 15 minutes or so to replace the motor, and it's like having a new microwave. The motor came quickly and works well!

Perfect fit and specifications for a replacement motor for my LG microwave.
The motor arrived quickly and was an exact replacement for my LG turntable motor. Everything lined up perfectly, mounting screws and wiring harness. The shaft design was slightly different but fit exactly. My one concern was that it did not seem to be exactly perpendicular to the body of the motor. Don't know if this is by design or a defect. I will report back when it has been running for a significant enough amount of time to speak to its longevity. Don't know whether this was a rebuilt motor or new as the listing does not specify. As others here have said this is an incredibly simple fix and quite expensive if done by a repair person. MAKE SURE TO UNPLUG YOUR MICROWAVE FIRST!Btw, if you have an LG microwave with an ExtendaVent, there are four screws on the outermost edge on each side underneath the microwave. These are the ONLY ones that need to be removed. DON"T remove the screws for the lights further in - unnecessary. Also, put a tall box on your stove to lower the ExtendaVent onto. Make sure it is within a few inches of the bottom of the ExtendaVent. You do not want to risk ripping out the wiring harness. You will have to pull the ExtendaVent out slightly towards you after the screws are removed. There is only one cable harness that is easily unclipped that you will have to remove to gain access to the motor. The cable ends are keyed so it is easily reconnected. Just tilt the left side of the ExtendaVent down while you unclip it. An extra set of hands is helpful for this maneuver but you can manage it yourself if need be. Then just lay the vent to the side and replace the motor. Easier than it sounds. Don't forget to plug the microwave back in after reassembly.
