The Cutting Edge (1992) / The Man in the Moon (1991) / Shag: The Movie (1989)

Considering all the bad reviews here, I thought maybe I would add a good one. I saw the movie on tv and bought the DVD and I'm more glad that I bought the DVD. I kept feeling like I was missing parts of this movie on ABC Family and it appears that I did. The DVD flows much better filling in areas that left me feeling alittle confused. The writing for this movie was not the best but having seen these skating movies for years I would have to say that it is by far the best since most seem have someone dying in the end. I will even go as far as to say that I liked it BETTER than the original "Cutting Edge" which I found to be alittle boring. Both actors were great in their roles and even the actors playing Doug and Kate were also. It seems to be the norm for the original actors and the sequel actors to be different and I liked their choice here. It was refreshing! It was good entertainment and they told the story well. If you want to watch a skating competition than you better rent out a Sports DVD, in my opinion. This was not a reality show if that's what people expected and I will say this - I hope they make another and improve on their improvements.

I stayed at the Hilton Waterfront Beach Resort on June 27 through 29, 2005. The documentary crew set up in the balcony just below my room when I arrived and they interviewed Sean McNamara (Director and Executive Producer). The director talked about the difficulty that Christy faced and the motivation of the characters. Later they interviewed Ross Thomas who plays Alex Harrison. He talked about how his character is pig-headed. It was fun to listen to them being interviewed.This is the note that was handed out to guests of the hotel:Welcome to the Hilton Waterfront Beach Resort. The lighting and sound crew set up before I got back to the hotel from a meeting. Around 9:00 p.m. pacific daylight time, the lighting crew turned on the lights. It took about an hour for the lighting crew to make all of its adjustments. There was a lot of traffic noise from the Pacific Coast Highway which is adjacent to the hotel. Christy Carlson Romano and Ross Thomas were dressed in sweat suits while waiting to play the scene. Ross Thomas wore a blue sweat suit with red vertical stripes on his legs.Around 10:00 p.m. they started to film one scene. Christy was wearing a blue sequenced top, a bright yellow light-weight dress and bright red boots. She starts at the edge of the pool, walks toward the hotel lobby, pauses, and gestures, continues to walk toward the Ross Thomas, kneels down and talks with him. The scene was filmed three times.Unfortunately, the scene did not make it into the film.

If you like series movies, ice skating, and couples that can't seem to get it right till almost the end then the Cutting Edge movies are for you. This one specialized less I think on the figure skating and more on the relationship between the two main characters trying to work together. The female lead comes off as an ice queen that is afraid of letting her emotions through for fear of getting hurt and the male just wants to send the ice façade up in smoke but keeps getting scared himself each time she finally lets it down. They get it right in the end, and reveal how much in love they really are.

Love each movies great for the price

Decent acting for a poorly written movie."Shoot the duck?" Seriously???

Für mich fing der Film mit einer Enttäuschung an, denn ich hätte es so gerne gesehen, dass die Eltern von Jackie von den damaligen Hauptdarstellern DB Sweeney und Moira Kelly gespielt würden. Beide sind nach wie vor Schauspieler und dass man sie offenbar nach einigen Interviews zu schließen gar nicht gefragt hat, hat mich echt enttäuscht.Weiters ist es witzig, dass es hier um die Olympischen Spiele 2006 in Turin geht, bedenkt man, dass der erste Teil von den Olympischen Spielen 1992 in Albertville handelt, könnte sich theoretisch alles zeitlich gar nicht ausgehen, denn dann wäre die gute Jackie ja erst ungefähr 13, wenn ihre Eltern schnell waren. Doch hat man das im Film geflissentlich übersehen.Im Film selbst hat sich der Autor sicher sehr bemüht, alles anders zu machen, als im ersten Teil, die erste Begegnung abseits vom Eislaufzirkus, Alex selbstständige Entscheidung zu Kate zu kommen, keinen potentiellen Freund für Kate, Einzellauf, aber der grundlegende Faden bleibt doch bestehen, zickige Frau verliebt sich in von sich überzeugten Mann, beide schaffen das unmögliche am Eis und finden genau wie im Teil eins im allerletzten Augenblick doch zusammen.Liebe und Eis 2" ist nichts, worüber man nach dem Ende noch groß diskutieren könnte, obwohl es schon Ansätze von Ernsthaftigkeit gibt, z.B. wie verhält sich die Oberschicht denen gegenüber, die auf der Gehaltsliste ganz unten stehen oder wie schnell kann sich das Leben verändern, wenn man einen Unfall hat, aber alles im allen geht es hier schlichtweg um eines: Unterhaltung - und das ist Sean McNamara mit diesem Film auf alle Fälle gelungen.

Also ich mag den ersten Teil. Der ist Kult.Doch Teil 2 ist eine würdige Fortsetzung, da man bemüht war es nicht wie ein Abklatsch wirken zu lassen.Die Eltern werden zwar von neuen Schauspielern gespielt, aber da so viel Zeit seit Teil 1 vergangen ist, hat mich das nicht wirklich gestört (Ähnlich wie bei der Schweigen der Lämmer-Fortsetzung "Hannibal", wo Juliane Moore es nach 10 Jahren gelang, Jodie Foster vergessen zu machen).Die junge Hauptdarstellerin spielt unwerwartet frisch, und verleiht ihren Charakter eine Kratzbürstigkeit, ohne dabei aber unsymphatisch zu wirken.Die Story bewegt sich in den gewohnten Bahnen, aber das spielt hier (noch)* keine Rolle, da man in Erinnerungen an Teil 1 schwelgt.Die DVD ist recht ordentlich ausgestattet, mit Audiokommentar und Making of, sowie einem Musikclip.Mehr kann sie, und muss sie nicht leisten. Der Dolby 5.1 Ton hätte vielleicht noch etwas mehr Räumlichkeit vertragen. Ausser im Vorspann kommen alle Geräusche von vorne. Aber das stört nicht wirklich.Also ruhig zugreifen und die Ladysnight bzw. der Eiskunstlaufabend (vielleicht in Kombo mit Teil 1) ist gerettet.* - Erst bei Teil 3

Nun, mir fehlte nur mehr dieser Teil. Den Ersten kannte ich schom sehr lange und den Dritten entdeckte ich vor einiger Zeit beim Libro.Tja, nicht so schlecht, nur fehlte mir etwas das "Herz" daß den ersten Teil so besonders machte und vor allem auch der Witz!!!Also, von allen drei Liebe und Eis ist und bleibt der erste Teil der Beste, schon allein wegen der Darsteller!!!!!!

Schon lange hat mich keine Lovestory mehr restlos überzeugt. Doch dieser Film ist schlichtwegs perfekt, vielleicht auch weil mir die Sportart Eiskunstlauf sehr gefällt. Die Story ist zwar nicht unbedingt eine Neuerfindung, aber gut gelungen. Die Chemie zwischen den beiden Hauptdarstellern stimmt und die Funken sprühen.Die Geschichte von Jacky Dorsey, Spitzen-Eiskunstläuferin aus gutbetuchtem Elternhaus und dem Sunnyboy Alex Harrison hat genau die richtige Mischung aus Humor, romantischen Momenten und Drama.Was mir sehr gefällt ist das dieser Film es nicht nötig hat andauernd Witze unter der Gürtellinie oder knapp darüber zu reisen wie es in heutigen Komödien und Liebesfilmen oft der Fall ist.Die Musik zu den Szenen auf dem Eis ist wirklich passend gewählt.Alles in allem wunderschöner Film für einen entspanten Filmabend.Der erste Film Liebe und Eis habe ich bisher noch nicht gesehen, daher kann ich hierzu auch kein Vergleich anstellen. Liebe und Eis 3 hat mich nachdem ich zuerst den zweiten Teil gesehen habe, jedoch eher entäuscht er kommt einfach nicht an das Format von Liebe und Eis 2 ran.

Zur Geschichte möchte ich nicht viel sagen, müsste den meisten bekannt sein.Von den 3 "Liebe und Eis"-Filmen hat mir dieser am Besten gefallen. Wobei man nach dem Film nicht unbedingt das Bedürfnis hat, ewig darüber zu diskutieren. Perfekt für einen Mädels-Abend, mehr aber auch nicht.
