Do it right the first time! Order this!
Sometimes you don't realize how bad something is until it's replaced with a new one. That's the case with our heat pump condenser fan. The condenser fan motor in our heat pump started making a knocking noise that was getting progressively worse. Basically, it was telling me, 'I'm going to quit working and leave you without AC or Heat when you least expect it!" But, it was still running and I put it off. Finally the noise got to be too much and I went in search of a replacement. Long story short, I looked at all the 'cheap' replacements offered and decided that saving money for this may be false economy. I proved that to myself by first ordering a used but supposedly 'good' motor from a certain auction site. Mistake #1. The 'good' motor wasn't and even though my money was refunded, I wasted time and effort installing it. So then I found a "used but good" listing from this Amazon seller. With questionable packing and the USPS having their way with that motor it was so damaged that it wouldn't even turn! Mistake #2. I informed the seller and they were sympathetic and helpful and I returned the damaged motor and they refunded my money. So, finally, I ordered a NEW, "Improved" motor - which I should have done from the start. Duh.The motor came in the sturdy factory packaging and was in great shape. No damage. It was labeled with the Johnson Controls logo which was great, and had 'Made in India' on the label too. Refreshing to NOT see made in China!I noticed immediately that the motor shaft spun with little effort in fact, after installing the fan blade on the motor, the light breeze was spinning it. Nice! Once installed in the heat pump, and it was a simple plug and play job because of the specific connector for my York heat pump, it started right up and ran beautifully. The difference in fan noise was remarkable; So quiet! I noticed too that air flow through the heat pump seemed to be improved as well as it didn't go into defrost as often has it did with the old motor and the coil was not icing a readily. This motor made a BIG improvement to my heat pump! I didn't know how bad the old - and probably 12 year old original - motor really was.So, lessons learned. Don't skimp. Don't be cheap. Especially with something as critical as your hvac system. (I can't wait to see my electric bill after running on the eHeat coil for a week... ugg.)UPDATE: So no one is surprised - I was - this motor seems to have electronic soft-start built in. It does not just slam on when the unit starts but will start slow and ramp-up to speed. It produces a slight electronic whirring as it does so but it's not loud and actually sounds kinda cool!

AAA+ Excellent Replacement Motor - High Quality, Great Price, Perfect Fit - Great Savings
Air conditioner did not cool very well and within days stopped cooling all together. Noticed fan was not turning when compressor was on. I removed and checked coil (easiest and cheapest to replace), to no avail. I did notice the fan seemed to be in a bind when I took a small stick and tried to rotate blades indicative of worn out bearings. Local H/AC repair service wanted $960 to replace fan motor. In looking at motor and effort to do it myself, did not appear to be rocket science. I shopped on Amazon and found this motor described as a direct replacement for my York AC unit. Motor fit perfectly in terms of shaft length, placement of screws, length of wiring harness and wiring harness plug. Motor was better made than original and has excellent bearings as evidenced by it spinning like a pin-wheel once fan blades were attached and a slight breeze began blowing across it. Shaft has no lateral or longitudinal play and is very smooth when rotating shaft manually. Once installed (30 minutes from start to finish), motor started right up when breaker was flipped on. Fan runs very quietly, is very well balance (no vibration at all) and moves a lot of air. House was cooled down from a hot humid 86 degrees to 74 degrees in about 4 hours (3100 sq. ft house). Cannot be happier with this motor and the easy of installation. Better yet is the savings of $820 and satisfaction of doing it myself. Thanks Amazon for the terrific (quality) items you carry!!!

Watch for bent mounting bolts
This was an exact match for my YORK Model H1RE030S06G.Symptom: Capacitor use to kick start the motor and the fan (which spun around for about 2-3 mins) and then the motor froze. I had replaced the capacitors so that was not the issue. The freezing motor problem occurs when the motor is reaching the end of its life and when it spins for a while it heats up and then freezes.I had to order the part 3 times since the first two shipments came with bent mounting bolts (nothing to do with American HVAC seller - it was poor packaging on part of Amazon). There was no end support on the heavy motor which slid inside the box and punched through the outside packaging box causing one of the 4 mounting bolts to bend. The motor came with the exact matching harness along with the correct end connector that properly connects to York receptor in the AC unit. Installation was a breeze and took 10 mins to reinstall. I spray painted the rusted grill cover and vacuumed the cooling fins(gently using a soft brush attachment) as well as the inside of conditioner to remove all the accumulated junk. Finally if you have rusted acorn hex nuts that secure the motor to the grill cover then you can easily replace them with the stainless steel Hillman #8 x 32 Stainless Steel Cap Nut (4-Count -Item #330548 Model #126887 $2.78 ) from Lowes. I used some aluminium washers underneath the acorn nuts to make the mounting even more secure. Do not spend the ridiculous OEM asking prices (ranging between $20 to $40) on various sites for the Acorn nuts. These are plain vanilla #8 X 32 cap nuts available in Lowes for a $1 - $ 3 depending on which material you want for the nuts. I opted for stainless steel since they have better rust protection.Amazon got the 3rd shipment right after I talked to a rep and asked him to secure the motor with some packing material to prevent it from sliding and punching through the outside box hence I removed 1 star. AC is working like a charm now.
