Range Safety Guard

I am very pleased with this product. It definitely makes me feel more comfortable with our little one following us around in the kitchen. It prevents him from grabbing the pan/pot handles, and possibly dumping their hot contents onto himself. It keeps his hand out of the fire. It also keeps what we are cooking out of his line of sight so he isn't as interested. I also like that it does warm up enough to warn him that he shouldn't be messing around with it, but not enough to hurt him.The installation is very easy. I did have to pull our stove/oven away from the wall to fit the velcro attachments, but it was a breeze otherwiseMy only complaint with this purchase was the lack of Prime shipping options. I'm definitely spoiled by Amazon now. I almost didn't buy it specifically because of the ~$10 to shipping (which increases the cost of this item by 1/3). I'm sure they are losing a significant amount of sales due to this. It also took 9 days to arrive which seems absurd now that Amazon has conditioned me to think 2 day shipping should be free.Aside from the shipping cost/experience, the product itself is wonderful.

This is a great product. It blends in well with our black stovetop, does not take up too much room, and provides a nice barrier to little hands. It is easy to mount on the stove. I just wish the hinges could open in both directions. They only have a 90 degree range. If they opened both ways, it would be much simpler to unfasten the side of the guard and move it aside for cleaning. As mounted, the guard does restrict the size of pot that can be used (with our stove, larger pots can no longer be centered over the burner). Also, the guard directs heat upward (as it should!), but this means that it can be tricky to stir the pots on the front of the stove without burning one's arms. Overall, though, none of these things are deal breakers for me.

I love this. My stove is black and stainless steel, so this looks like an extension of the stove itself. It does NOT look like a "baby proofing" item. I love that it gets very warm (not hot enough to hurt my kid, but hot enough to teach him that there is danger on the stove.) I'm using it primarily to keep things from falling off the stove or to keep things from splattering to the floor. It is true that large pots won't sit on the burners perfectly any more, but this is still the best solution I've found for the stove.

I had no problem with fit or installation with this product. It is sturdy, blocks the burners and prevents little ones from reaching up and grabbing at pots and pans. From a child protection standpoint it is great, however, there are a couple issues when cooking. The first is that the guard really does get pretty hot - hot enough to make you pull your hand back, but you would still need to leave your hand in contact with the guard for a couple seconds to actually get burned. I have a gas range and the burners are situated very close to the edge of the stove, so this may be part of the problem, When I cook now, I cannot center my larger pans on the front burners, because of the guard so I end up with uneven heating. I will deal with this inconvenience, though, to protect my daughter.

Love this. Easy install, within 5 minutes I had my oven pulled out, Velcro on, guard attached, and oven back in place. I cant say how well this piece would hold on an oven that does not have countertop on both sides. Our oven does, and this thing doesn't budge. It is a heavy, well built piece and I am very pleased with this purchase. It does get warm when I am cooking, but I have placed my hand on it for several seconds and it doesn't get hot enough to burn. Highly recommend!

Awesome product. I'm grateful for the bit of stress it takes away from cooking. My son is a ninja and gets into things quick. This helps me keep him safe. Now he has to climb up to get at the stove which gives his ninja mommy plenty of time to thwart his efforts. Before we got this, all it would take is one second and one finger reaching up.

Works well

If you have a stove+range (all in one piece), then this product will fit fine. If you have a range installed flush with your counters, then this product won't fit. This safety guard is only intended for stove tops where there is a gap on the side that can be used to affix the guard. Look carefully at the picture on the corner of the range and you'll see what I mean...
