Much more than a gadget so read on.
If you ask yourself why do I need one of these then I ask you why don't you?I like gadgets but I like them even more when they have a purpose.Starting with the current Pandemic we are spending far more time than we want to indoors and I hadn't realised how much heat and humidity levels can impact on our health. So I started looking for humidity gauges in an attempt to balance what's going on indoors when we can't go outdoors.I then discovered that this tiny device truly is portable and has so many more uses... I left the fridge door open by accident a few weeks back and this device can go in there quite happily... Sending a notification when temperatures aren't as expected. i.e. fridge door open spoiling food. Wish I had found it before that. It's readings are highly accurate for temperature and as I have no other method of checking humidity I'm going to trust the data it produces. It collects the data and decisions can be made going forward based on it likeove a smart thermostat to the bathroom to combat humidity and reduce black mould... Maybe I think it's possible but not an expert. The Meross app is easy and although it needs it's own hub it is compatible with other Meross products so when you trust the brand like I do you will add to it.Although this particular device may not be directly controlled by Alexa it does report to my Android phone which in turn can take actions using apps like Tasker and IFTTT which are fun in themselves creating possibilities of home automation. So if the humidity goes up or down it puts a notification on my phone and the apps or I can react. Genius.

Great for monitoring temperature and humidity in a smart way!
Having purchased various other Meross products over the past year I was keen to try this new product out.For me I wanted a way to track the temperatures in my kitchen over a period of time, that’s where this device came in.As with all Meross products it arrived in a nice package with simple instructions included. In the box you get: Meross Hub, Sensor, Fabric Strap, charger + USB cable and double sided tape. From a visual perspective the device is very small approx 40mm x 40mm x15mm so is ideally stowed away in a corner for monitoring purposes.I personally just glanced at the instructions and followed my instincts. Setup was very easy and I simply opened the Meross App and added the Hub, from there it was a case of adding a sensor which it found automatically. I have a 5GHz Wi-fi network which I didn’t have to put in smart device mode it simply just connected. From a usability point of view operation is simple, the app shows current temperature and humidity on the dashboard, then when you enter that sensor you can see a detailed history over the life time of the product in days, weeks or months. For me this is perfect I can see the spikes and low point during the day. Further to this you can set alarms or notifications if the temperature gets to hot or cold which is great.Meross has its own automations built into this app which I think would be useful and simple to use but I don’t have a Smart Meross heating system so cannot make full use of this. If it had integration with Alexa or HomeKit then this would improve the product dramatically.Overall as a monitoring product it is very useful but it’s use outside of Meross products is limited.

Automatic fan control using Meross smart plug - battery issues?
Update - having owned two of these devices for some 4 months now, the second has now decided to go offline some 4 weeks after the first, flashing green and refusing to come out of this state regardless of following reset procedures, and the the hub is in the same room. Despite LED indicators all looking good I decided to order some new batteries and they are now working again. Devices work well but seem to have two potential issues - short battery life (will see how a new battery does) and difficulty in knowing that your connection loss is due to a fading battery.I already own other Meross smart devices (bulbs, smart plugs and previously, a smart radiator thermostat) and so deciding to purchase this device was made easier due to easier integration using the Meross app and other Meross devices. Unlike the other Meross devices this smart sensor doesn't seem to show up in the Google home app.The smart sensor requires a Meross hub which uses the Zigbee standard and reduces the power drain of this battery device compared to wifi. Setup was straightforward using the Meross app. Once setup temperatue and humidity were displayed and trended on the app. The temperature appears to be accurate when the unit is placed side by side with another smart heating thermostat. There is also a calibration feature within the app menu that lets you tweak the value. Also within the app menu for this sensor is an automation option. Selecting this allows you to set a temperature range with which to trigger a Meross smart device (smart plug in my case) on or off (tip - selecting within your range creates a 'tick' symbol and and triggers when the temperature is within, selecting either side outside the range triggers when the temperture is less than or greater than that range). For me this device has worked brilliantly allowing a simple mains fan to be turned on when the room temperature gets warm, and turned off when the temperature drops.Recommended if you have other Meross smart devices, I cannot comment on integration with others.

Tut was es sollt.

Funcionalidad
