Not super tacky, just enough to not slide around. This isn’t like a yoga mat.. it’s specifically made for an an roller! Best investment for slippery doors!

What they call a may is a thin piece of material. I think my mouse pad is thicker. Didn't work for the roller, just did a lot of bunching up and sliding around. We rolled it up and threw it in the closet not to be used again.

Waited to review wanted to see how the wear and tear of daily use and so far after months used twice a day it's worth the cost.
