what's the difference of this vs playing with 2 colors on the 4 player blockus? are there different shaped pieces?

There are more pieces, and you start at a different point on the board. Two person on this is a lot more fun than playing as two on the four person board.

Duo is really better than 2 on a four board?

With the four board and two players, you have to play two colors and while it's not bad, I prefer the duo where you each get a color and done!

How much smaller is Blokus Duo from the regular Blokus, & how many pieces does each have, please?

14 across instead of 20 but same number of pieces per color

No it is more like a puzzle where you try and block your opponent from discarding his/her pieces and try and discard all of your pieces. Our family likes this game. It is fun and fast paced.
