Know Thyself

Every civilization known in history from the Greeks to the Africans had this motto: "Man, Know Thyself." It's only when we truly study who we really are and what condition our perception of ourselves, that we are able to bring about steps to realize liberation. This book will get you going, you'll learn what the approach you should take not only learning the self, but how to study and understand the advancement of 'self' as well. Who we are as a people is much valued. Every black person should read this book to eradicate the negative conditions of mental enslavement. I've highlighted so much content in this book. Most people would say 'do I really need a book to teach me how to know myself?' Yes!!! You do, especially when you consider the seriousness of the conscious view of your blackness and the well-being of your people. Your advancement at times depend on what is nurtured in your brain and I argue this book is an added gift to your library. You will refer back to this book often and highlight things that resonate with you. I highly recommend you buy the book rather than borrow it from a library. Know Thyself is a gift book and you should pass this info on to your offspring. It is essential in our journey to liberation as Black/Afro+American people. Dr. Akbar's words of wisdom delivers!!!!

I am learning so much about 1) what it means to "Know Thy Self", 2) the different aspects of a true education, and 3) how knowing nature and knowing yourself are interrelated.

I admit after reading the first twenty pages I not only stopped reading, but mistakenly threw it out. It didn't seem to be what I thought it was about. But, boy was that a mistake. I remembered something that I told a fellow patient at a mental hospital that was, 'life is like a book, you cannot tell if it is good until you get to the end of it.' That got me to take it out of the trash and finish it. I am glad that I did! It turned out to be exactly what I was hoping for later on in the book. It starts slow, but heats up greatly.

Excellent treatise! Love this author who writes with power, clarity and conviction! Kudos!!!

I suppose this book is well worth the wait but I am waiting on it for a minute now. It comes highly recommended. I hope the vendor works out this logistics issues. I empathize though since it is not coming directly from the superbly efficient and effective Amazon in a time of COVID-19 related uncertainties.
