Excellent book. This is fascinating research. This has to be the top keto book out there. I believe I’ve read most of them, and this is my favorite because it is so well written and well researched. I used to be a vegan for YEARS, but never felt that great (constantly bloated) and was always hungry, craving chocolate, and even carried an extra ten pounds. For some odd reason I completely dove into the Keto Diet, using Mark’s approach, and decided to try it out. I quit veganism cold turkey and have never looked back. I am 100 percent happy, satisfied, love the recipes, the delicious food. My anxiety and stress is completely gone, I never worry about my weight anymore, I sleep like a baby, I have lost the last stubborn 10 pounds, my energy is through the roof, and I have nothing to say except for this is finally what I have been looking for. I have no sugar cravings, I can even skip meals now and then, and not even think about food. I do love and enjoy my meals 100 percent when I eat! As a vegan, it was really hard to go out to dinner and enjoy food with friends. Not anymore. I’m actually eating bacon, ground beef, steak, chicken, fish, eggs, delicious vegetables, and lots and lots of fat. I look at my thin and toned body – I am 5’ 7” and weigh 122 pounds, and cannot believe that I can eat as much FAT as I do. 80 percent! Good healthy fats!! And I am never ever hungry. Wow it’s just amazing that this works. My hair is even growing in thicker and my skin is gorgeous. I think my brain is even sharper. I am 58 years old and feel younger and better and healthier than ever before. Goodbye veganism. Hello meat & fats!

High Octane Fuel for your Body: I lost 40 pounds, something I thought would be impossible.
In The Keto Reset Diet Mark Sisson and Brad Kearns draw a poignant parallel between the human body and a high performance car. Fueling our bodies with a diet high in carbohydrates as opposed to a diet high in fat does the same to our bodies as fueling a race car with low octane gasoline does to the car's motor. Because we are not adapted to the inferior fuel, our performance will eventually decline and our body or the car's motor will suffer substantial damage. The Keto Reset Diet explains the science behind the Keto diet in detail and shows how we can reverse the damage, lose weight, prevent diabetes and cancer, improve cognitive performance and athletic endurance. The 21-day diet plan eases the reader into the optimal form of fueling the body and 100 recipes at the end of the book provide the reader with a lot of ideas on how to continue the diet after the initial phase. I like that the book also addresses lifestyle in general. For me Keto works. Since June, I have lost 30 pounds in 4 months, all without starving myself. I attribute my success to Mark Sisson, whose website I found a couple of years ago. Although it took me a while until I followed his advice, Mark Sisson was the first person who showed me the way in the right direction. Equipped with this book I can keep the momentum going and work on exercising better, getting enough sleep and reducing my stress levels.Update.: I originally wrote this book review on October 3, 2017 when I had already lost 30 pounds over a period of four months. Now ist is February 17, 2018. Since October I have lost another 10 pounds just by continuing with the Keto diet. I cannot say how much better I feel in my body right now. I am back to the weight that I had when I was 20. Besides the health benefits this gave me a great boost of confidence.

If not having a plan is holding you back, then here is the solution.
This is a great book for those who may already be a little familiar with keto or have tried it and "failed." For those who have never heard of keto before, they may want to pick up a little more information along the journey to help them fine tune their experience. However, you can absolutely start here (and should)! This book lays out a plan for how you are going to get from point A to point B - and it is possibly the most sensible plan I've ever seen. No, you don't have to crash into keto and experience horrible and sometimes downright scary side effects of dropping your carbs by the 100's of grams overnight. So many keto advocates promote the "all or nothing" approach. What Sisson offers here is a sustainable lifestyle. He teaches you how to gradually and safely enter ketosis, how to adapt, and then offers thoughts on where to go next to make this a whole life plan. That is how you are going to make keto work for you!Sisson's approach is one of a seasoned coach, which is surely what many readers are going to need to help them make that lasting change in their health. You leave this book with an action plan, including a test to know when to go full keto (so you have no doubt when you're ready), and the motivation to believe you can do it. There are two different meal plans inside and many fantastic, nutrient-dense recipes. Just looking at the recipes will squash any concern that you're going to suffer from lack of flavor or nutrition when you go keto.I'm not trying to take away from all the positives too much, but there were a couple of problems I did notice in the book. One, there were some inconsistent messages on how to execute the 21 day primal diet leading into the keto reset. For example, it mentioned no grains but then later suggests eating grains like wild rice. For those well versed in Sisson's primal diet, you will understand what this 21 day prep phase is supposed to look like, despite a couple of contradictions in this book. But, for those brand new to this concept, it might cause some confusion. Hopefully not enough to actually derail any progress. Also, and this is just my weird preference coming out here, I was surprised at the printing quality of the book. It does seem to be done on very cheap paper that was cut poorly. Of course, I don't hold this against the actual book, but I do wonder if there is something up with the publishing company for it to have a lesser quality construction. This is not the first book I've gotten recently out of Harmony that was cut so poorly, which I think does a disservice to the hard work authors put in to their books! That aside, I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who is curious about keto and anyone who could be well served by trying it out.
