Excellent concept that works
Excellent working piece. The only issue, not a design issue, was that the screws for the bottom were missing but I found reasonable substitutes. Also, make sure you have a rubber hammer.

Sturdy and attractive
This is a wooden desk with adjustable heights suitable for people who work standing up. The top surface measures 19.5x24.75" and includes a long pen-catch indent at the back. Under the desk surface is an open storage shelf that measures 12.25x20.25x3.5". The surface of the desk can be adjusted to 9 height levels, from 36.5" off the ground to 48.25". There is a single non-adjustable footrest, 7.5" off the ground, with a rounded top surface. The triangular leg construction incorporates 2 flat slabs of wood on each side; the slab with the desk surface attached rides up and down the slab that is in contact with the floor. To adjust the height of the desk, you stand on the back side of the desk and tip the work surface slightly forward, then lift it up or down as needed. The wood is 3/8" 15-ply with a light-colored smooth veneer finish. The JASWIG logo appears on the right side of the desk by the storage shelf. The desk is shipped in a flat cardboard box that contains 11 wood pieces, a bag of mixed hardware, an Allen wrench, and 3 pages describing how to put the desk together. In addition to the Allen wrench, you will need both slot and Phillips head screwdrivers for assembly; the screwdrivers are not included.I like both the looks and feel of this desk. With its sleek minimalist design, it goes well in my living room, providing a stand-up work space that looks attractive and matches my wooden furniture. It is also much sturdier than some other desks that I have tried. I am 5'2", and I find this desk most comfortable when raised to the third setting, where it stands 39.5" off the floor. Based on those measurements, I would estimate the desk would fit anyone from 4'11" to 6'0". I was able to put the desk together in about 1 hour. If you have allergies or chemical sensitivities, you may need to let this desk air out for a few days before bringing it into your living/work area--with my allergies, I found the wood dust from the desk made me sneeze for the first 2 days after I put it together.Note that the desk is described as a laptop stand. I have tried the desk with my oversized monitor for my desktop computer (27"), my all-in-one computer (with its 25" monitor), and my laptop. I've found that with the larger monitors, the depth of work surface isn't quite big enough to allow some comfort room between your eyes and the monitor. But with a smaller monitor, or with a laptop, as the desk was designed for, the amount of space is fine. If you want to use this desk with a desktop computer, you will find there is room for both a keyboard and mouse or trackball. If you use a laptop, you will have room beside your keyboard for a mouse if you use one. On the other hand, the desk is definitely compact--it doesn't provide room to spread out books or papers beside your computer as you work. While the desk surface height can be easily adjustable, there are a few caveats. First, it's best to empty the surface before adjusting the height, to make sure things (like laptops or monitors) don't roll off the front. Also, you need to stand behind the desk to adjust the height, so if you place the desk against a wall, you'll have to pull it out first, adjust the height, then push the desk back in place again. If these requirements for height adjustment aren't convenient for you, you may prefer a different model/style that can be adjusted from the front, fully loaded. Also note that the lowest setting, 36.5" off the floor, is still rather high for work if you are seated. Thus, this is a desk where you stand or sit on a high stool, but not one that shifts from standing to sitting positions with a standard office chair.Overall, this is an attractive and sturdy piece of furniture. It would make a great choice for a compact work desk for any adult of average height who prefers to work standing up or sitting at a stool.

Standing up for health and convenience - with some elegance too
Studies have shown that sitting all day can cause health problems. People evolved to stand and move around; spending hours in a chair staring at a computer screen over a keyboard is not good. (One reason why fitness monitors and apps will remind you to get up and move every so often.) So, when I got a chance to review this desk, I jumped on it.It arrives completely disassembled, of course. Everything you need is included except for a Phillips screwdriver. I found assembly straightforward enough; the instructions only have 14 steps and the fastening hardware supplied with the kit is of very good quality. The desk feels very solid when everything is tightened down. The wood used to make the desk is a very high quality plywood. The finish overall is very comfortable to feel, almost sensual, and the design is very attractive to my eyes. It's a modern style combining form and function. Adjusting the height of the desktop is simple and solid. Mechanically, I can't see any way for it to fail with reasonable use and attention. The desk is sturdy, but not so heavy it can't be moved relatively easily; the rounded legs make it easy to move across carpet. I've only had the desk together for a short time, and I'm already finding elements of the design that work well. The gently curved foot rest? I find it works just as advertised; I stand on one foot and rest the other there, changing every so often. I could see putting the desk in front of a window so every so often I can rest my eyes on something farther away than a screen. The packaging is largely cardboard - no foam - and the only plastic is small bags for the hardware and some tape around a few of the pieces. The desk itself is all wood with metal fittings. From a sustainability standpoint, this is a good deal. The big issue for most people - aside from those who don't know if they really want a standing desk - is probably going to be the price. A quick web search finds standing desks that are much cheaper, and some that are more expensive. One alternative is a desktop platform that can be elevated for standing or lowered for sitting. One thing to keep in mind is that most of them definitely look like office furniture, all metal struts and plastic surfaces; this desk looks something you can have in a home.If you're still making up your mind, you may want to go to an office supply store to 'test drive' a few models to get a feel for how they might work for you. I confess I might not have requested a standing desk for review if I hadn't seen one a coworker with back problems got to make his work day bearable. While I'm using this with my laptop at the moment, I can also imagine some art and craft uses where this desk would be really useful; the top surface is 25 and a half inches by 19 and three quarters. That's a good sized work area.I'm quite pleased so far - I'll see how it works out over time.

Great standing desk!
I've been shopping for a standing desk for quite a while, so when I saw this one, I decided to give it a try. Made entirely of wood (except for the hardware, of course), this desk is sturdy and low tech. It adjusts to just the right height for comfortable work levels. The ingenious design allows you to raise or lower the desktop height via a track system built into the wood. The desk is sturdy and not wobbly or top heavy. And I love that it is made in the USA!The desk was a bit difficult to put together, and took about 40 minutes to assemble by myself. The instructions were easy to follow, but it was difficult at times to get the bolts to seat correctly, and took a bit of manipulation to get right. This desk is a great addition to my office. It allows me to stand up frequently, which makes a big difference in the comfort level of my work days.
