In series/parallel. The neck pickup is on.

Q: is the whole pickguard made of aluminum? if not, what is the material of the bottom that touched the body of the guitar?

The pickguard itself is plastic, nicely finished and a huge upgrade from the one originally on my guitar. I hope this answer helps you.

Q: Will this fit a squire strat, made in china

Yes. Only thing was the screw holes didn’t line up perfect, and I had to fill, and drill. This is super common though with any switching of pickguard on any guitar.

Q: What is the push/pull for? What does it do

It turns on the neck pickup. You can have the bridge and neck on at the same time. These are great pickups. Vintage wind on some powerful magnets. Very clear and glassy, but with some punch. Think SRV clean tones.
