Q: Does this control module include wiring instruction for a safe installation?

It's Basically "Plug & Play". All Wires Fit Specifically All Together In A Housing That "Mates" With This Control Module. Like A Car Radio Harness, Or Computer Motherboard Power Supply. No Need To Cut Wires & Colour-Code.

Q: Our 36dv quit. the pilot fires, but the flame won't ignite. i've replaced the pilot assembly and that didn't work. is it this part or the ipi valve?

The module when activated creates the spark to light the pilot, then reads the flame rod to make sure it lit. Finally it tells the valve to open. It is hard to say if your valve is not opening due to the module, or a bad valve. It is easier to change the module, then the valve, so I guess I would start there and keep my fingers crossed that is it.

Q: I have this unit and it turns on / off fine but i have no control over the flame height. What remotes will work with this?

First if all, make sure your gas fireplace specifies this device. If it is the replacement, then you need to check your current remote that worked with your older ignition control. Then, look up any reset requirements for your old remote. Also, make sure the remote appears to be working per its manual. My fireplace used a Skytech Smart Stat II Fireplace Remote Control for Heat-N-Glo. It worked fine with the replacement ignition control.
