Wrong color, but so what
These are fine. They are not black, but neither am I, so all is well.

Excellent remedy for those suffering hearing loss at reasonable cost.
Was a replacement for a lost unit. I like having 4 programs per amplifier as my hearing in each ear has degraded differently. I also like the fact that they are placed in the ear and not ouside. They are truly not noticeable.

Works well but does not stay in and easily lost!! Bummer!!!!
I bought these about 2 years ago. I hear much better with them but they fall out very easily and are so small they are hard to find. Consequently I lost the right one about a year ago and just lost the left this week. They are comfortable and do work well but if lost that is $900 down the drain!

Can new, non prescription technologies, rival traditional hearing aids?
I rely heavily on Amazon reviews when making purchases. I am not connected to Able Planet and this review is meant only to help others who find reviews helpful. I have had moderate hearing loss for over 30 years and have used top of the line, in the ear, aids all that time. They cost between $2,000-$3,000 each and either fail or become supposedly obsoleted by new technology every 3-5 years. It will seem like I am doing a disservice to the audiologists who diligently service the hearing impaired, many of whom have profound hearing loss. But the majority will fall into my category. If you need the TV up loud and if even then you find speech difficult to follow, you probably have similar hearing loss to mine.My first acquaintance with Able Planet was their wireless headphones which when connected to an RCA mini jack (audio out) on the TV allowed me to once more properly following dialogue while sparing my wife from being blasted by the TV speakers. TV entertainment suddenly became a real pleasure again.I believe hearing aid technology is maxing out for those with moderate hearing loss. Brochures for current hearing aid models are full of marketing fluff and newly added features add little more than the chrome on cars. I found no perceptible improvement in the performance of my latest aids over the ones I bought 5 years earlier and the fit has been less than comfortable. So when I saw this product advertised at a price well less than currently shown on Amazon I decided to give them a try. The concept is simple. The fit is gentle and I have found them almost as beneficial as my deluxe aids. Like computers, hearing aid technology is very much chip driven and so advances are almost generic with most aids having similar features and performance. An audiologist can program other aids to more closely compensate for hearing loss over a range of frequencies but the bottom line for most people is, does this make a discernible difference in the ability to understand speech. Meanwhile Able Planet cites their LINX technology which seems to have real merit for speech comprehension. As any hearing impaired person knows, increased volume too often doesn't correlate with increased comprehension of what is said. For anybody contemplating hearing aids, if these models can be purchased for a quarter or less than the full service top of the line hearing aids, you may like to give them a try first. I would liken them to an excellent pair of regular readers. They may not match your exact prescription but for many they suddenly make reading a joy again. For myself, I find relief in using them instead of my regular aids as the fit is more comfortable and avoids the sweaty ear syndrome and the accompanying fungal or bacterial infections that this can lead to. I would also highly recommend Serene Innovations ReNew Hearing Aid Dryer and Freshener www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003I7WMGC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1which keeps aids dry and helps mitigate against these infections.
