Overall a very good lamp. It would be better if the head rotated horizontally as well as vertically.

The 8.5 inch arms are just the right size. Doesn't take up much space on the desk. The Magnifier size is ideal.My only complaint is that the weighted base was rather beat up. Has several good dents in it. Otherwise I love it!

This lamp was purchased for an eight year old to help with lego builds and taking apart toys.It works well for the purchased tasks.Only issue that we have run into is when in lamp form need to keep the light and magnifying glass pretty close to the center line as the base is not heavy enough to counter balance extension of the lamp. It works great when using the clamp.No issues with free movement of hinges when extending the adjustable arm.

It's pretty cool like the lights and all the colors remote is very fradual was using Velcro to attach it to the base and it cracked with the slightest pressure. But still works. Plastic could have just been cold but be careful

The light works fine, but the base isn't heavy enough to hold the light in place if you stretch it out much at all. I use the base free standing, not clamped to the table. The problem isn't the light, it's the base. Pretty easy to fix. I got a heavy paperweight and I put it on the base to hold it in place when I stretch out the light. But the paperweight gets in the way sometimes. I wouldn't buy it again, but not for the light, just because to the base. I'm sure it works fine if you're clamping it to a table.

I made the mistake of ordering this based on the 4 stars but after I placed my order I read the reviews (lesson learned) and found many dissatisfied due to dents on the base, a clamp that doesn’t hold the weight, and the workability of the lamp. I tried to cancel my order but I was too late. I received it and prepared myself for disappointment but feel the item overall will meet my needs for the price I paid.

At best it is 2x magnification. It is useful so I am keeping it and at this point I do not require major magnification, but this definitely comes nowhere near 5X. 2X almost seems too generous. It makes things marginally larger at a normal expected distance (subject and your eyes).For the price it works if you need what you're working on to be a bit clearer, a little larger, and the light is really great.Adjustments are kind of crap - it doesnt have a great range of motion but its functional. The base is a joke. It is too light to hold the arm. It will tip over if you bend it to more than 30-45 degree angle from base. So you will more than likely need to clamp it to your desk. Problem is my work desk doesn't have a very deep edge. So I put it on the base and clamped the base as much as possible to the clamp. It is super classy.It would be a pain to add another errand to return it so I am just keeping it but will probably soon get something better. If you don't mind not getting 5X (1.5-3X max) then this is fine. The light is good and if you don't need to move it much, then its for you.

Love everything about the magnifying mirror.. except it doesn't have a strong magnification and tips over easily when trying to adjust to lower level.
