Anytime Tools 11 pc 5-Point Star Torx Tamper Proof Security Bit Socket Set

I needed this to take off the mass air flow sensor for my 2005 BMW 745Li (e65 with the N62 engine) because the Germans decided a normal hex security torx wasn’t good enough. No hardware store or auto parts store anywhere around me carries a 5 point star security hex BECAUSE IT’S A SPECIALTY ITEM GERMANY, I came to Amazon. This is a quality item that works and saved me from going to a mechanic.

Many "security bit sets" have all types of Torx recess tip hex keys and others, but 5 point pentacle or star bits are almost never included in those sets. This set had exactly what I need for taking apart my Honda accelerator pedal, and I believe many airbag assemblies use the same, rare, pentacle security key.Good quality, these should last, although I bet there are even more durable tool steel and tempered bits, but these are hardened and should work well for decades with a little care.

Needed the torx set to adjust the rack on my vehicle, did the job.

I needed to disassemble the special variable intake timing camshaft gear on a Toyota 4 cylinder engine. Upon examination I was unhappy to find that the VVT gear was assembled not with ordinary torx fasteners, but with weird five-point torx bolts. With no good alternative in sight (other than maybe cutting off and replacing the 5 point fasteners), this set was just what was needed to complete the job! The bit I used fit well and withstood a fair amount of torque (those things were on there pretty tight).

They do not fit!!!

I only needed one of these for my John Deere powered generator, the injection pump was a Stanadyne and the top cover used these security screws, 5 point with a center pin.

I purchased this set a couple months ago knowing I would need it for a specific project. It went into the tool box until the parts I needed to work on (which were on back order at the time) arrived. So, now I have the parts, and this set of 5 point security bits which I needed to take apart the AVCS cam gears on a Subaru WRX. I attach the T30 bit to a shorty ratchet, and give it a twist and the T30 bit breaks in half as if it were made of glass.I have turned wrenches for over 30 years, and generally will not buy Asian imported tools (read Chinese) unless I know they are low/occasional use tools that I do not need to depend on. This was one of those occasions, however I did fully expect to be able to get the cam gears off and re-installed with this set without issue.... Definitely not the case here.That is the front story.The back story is the fact that I very politely emailed the vendor (Anytime Tools) to inform them, and give them a chance to send me a replacement bit. My email was friendly, accurate and honest, and quite frankly all I wanted was a nice reply with a commitment to make it right. Not a refund, not credit for the whole set, just please replace the one bit that broke and I would be happy.The response I got from them was as follows:"Hello,Thank you for your note.Please contact Amazon.Thanks,JenniferAnytime Tools"This is the extent of their customer service....To me this is cheaper than the Chinese crap they are peddling. Buy from them at your own risk.
