Q: Does the bowl of the spoons tirn so that food doesn't fall out while lifting mouth to eat?

These Adaptive Utensils are medium weighted so the can be used for essential tremors , shaking hands , Parkinsons aids , weak hand grip and many other purposes. The spoons are fixed but there is extra grip and a stopper at the end to prevent the built up utensils from falling from your hand

Q: Can you just buy forks?

The sets I purchased had forks and spoons.

Q: My grandfather has essential tremors that are pretty severe. He is 85. Would these be very beneficial?

Possibly. However, I found them to be lighter weight than I had expected and I returned them. I also have essential tremors.

Q: Can they be used for toothbrushes?

This set is a fork, knife, soup spoon, and teaspoon..... so in short, no. I have seen just the slip on handle, so something like THAT could be used on a toothbrush. Best of luck. :)
