Q: How long can i leave this unplugged to power without losing data stored in it?

SSDs will not lose data when run out of power. The SSD uses NAND Flash as the storage medium, this can prevent SSD from losing data when it is not powered for a long time. Therefore, even if the SSD is not powered for a long time, data loss will not occur.

Q: are these sensitive to drops? durable?

Put it this way. I’ve dropped a HD spinning disc type, ruining it. I’ve dropped this SSD too, no problems, but I don’t recommend you do it. I still treat SSD like a spinning disc HD - best practice.

Q: Can this formatted in ntfs or fat 32?

Yup. I use both platforms PC/OS and have formatted these both ways.

Q: How much faster is this than a hdd external drive with usb 3 connection?

The computer's ports could limit the speed however, so a person's computer could make both the same speed when there's s hard limit like that. On mine with USB 3.1, it reaches 300MB/s. USB 2.0 is I think was 40MB/s or so. USB 3.0 should be maybe halfway between there as a quick guess which would be faster than many rotational drives, even internal ones.
