Brilliant!
This is easily the best toy my three-year old has owned. She uses it not just to look at bugs (hard to find in the New England winter!), but she also uses it to peek at leaves, pebbles and M&M's! The Creature Peeper comes with a ugly brown toy grasshopper, which immediately caught my kid's fancy! She calls him Slimy, feeds him all kinds of stuff and pretends to watch it through the magnifying glass. She is OBSESSED with this thing, which is not bad at all! I think it has great educational value because she is now following nature with greater interest. The toy itself is very durable and easy to clean. I'm thinking of getting one each time I have to go to a birthday party!Don't think twice, buy it!

Great observation pod, but top magnifier cone does not stay on
This product was purchased in conjunction with the laser vaccum gun for collecting bugs for a boy turning 6. This is a great magnifier as it shows the top and bottom of the bug with a mirror below the bug, but beware that the cone that rests on top does not screw on and you just have to keep it upright on a flat surface to keep it in place so your critter doesn't escape! Keep this toy outside if bugs give you the creeps! Otherwise great toy. Plastic could crack if dropped on cement.

Cute- little boys love it
I bought 2 - 1 for each of my nephews and they did enjoy catching bugs and looking at them closely. My only issue is I wish the top screwed on, because it can come off so easy while a 4 year old is holding it - and whoops- the bugs falls out. Otherwise its a fun a little toy.

Great gift idea for the little bug lover
I got the creature peeper, along with a lady bug house, and a bug book for my 3 year old niece who apparently hates dirt but looovveeessss bugs- go figure : )! Well my sister was getting fed up with her bringing creepy crawlies into the house and this was a good solution. She also takes her ladybugs out of their house and can look at them closely and carry them around with her everywhere, which you know how much the little ones like to carry their things around. My sister and niece love it and she said it is quite durable. It's been pulled on, dropped, you name it and is still in the condition it was received in! Really great, educational product without the yuck factor!

Good bug viewer for kids.
I got this along with a bug book because my boys, 4 and 5, have started expressing a lot of interest. What's to say? The Peeper does a great job of displaying captured critter magnified from both above and below. My minor complaint would be that the top piece doesn't fit as snugly as I would like. I added some tape around the edge to make the top less likely to come off when inconvenient.Overall a great toy and has been holding up well so far. Approx 2 months.

it went to the trash pretty quickly
not very useful... the magnifying glass is poorly constructed and you can't really see any details when you look through it. The fact that the top of this thing doesn't screw in a little or cannot be hooked in place makes it pretty useless to carry bugs around since kids are likely to knock the top off easily.

Great toy, just wish the lid was a little tighter!
We have been enjoying this bug viewer, but am a little nervous when we have a live bug in it to view because the lid comes off too easily. We had a live centipede in it, but couldn't let it come into the house because if our grandson pulled the top off we would have a live creature on the loose.

WORST DESIGN EVER!
Everything about this Creature Peeper was done right, except that the compartment doesn't fasten shut! This is a two-piece item; the base contains the magnifier and peephole, and the creature compartment with magnifier sits atop the base, as you can see in the photo of the product. Unfortunately, the creature compartment simply sits atop the base - there is absolutely no fastener of any kind - not even tension - to secure it in place, which means that my 4-year old is CONSTANTLY upset because the slightest tip of the thing and the top falls right off, releasing whatever bugs were inside. I have to say, I continue to marvel that someone could design a product with such an insurmountable fatal flaw that results in the product being completely worthless. All they would have had to do was thread the two pieces so they could screw together, or add a couple quick-release clips or SOMETHING - even if they just sized the pieces so they would fit snugly and tension would hold them together - to secure the top to the bottom. This is one of the most unbelievably bad product designs I've seen. Unless this is for an older child - like 10 or above - who will be able to use it in an exceedingly cautious manner so as not to accidentally knock the top off - I would avoid this like the plague.

SUPER ITEM - SUPER PRICE
I bought this product for my grandson's third birthday together with other bug related products.I have found it brilliant value for money. It is of sturdy and safe construction and is durable enough to be taken out on walks/ trips to the park etc. It also cleans up well - especially useful if slugs or snails etc are observed. It has been used on a regular basis and my grandson has found it fascinating and exciting to view the various small creatures we find in the garden. The only problem has been persuading him to set the creatures free again!

Great product
I bought these both for my own children and the children I look after. The product is so much fun for the children, and allowing them to look at the underneath is excellent. The only downfall I would find with it is that the lid does not screw on so if the child tips it slightly the lid falls off.

Low tech but well designed
Simple, low tech toy - we've put earth worms, lady birds and spiders in it. It probably isn't a high quality toy but it will last a long time. Good also for a present as its slightly unusual
