It depends on what type of hole or media your cutting. For example the reciprocating saw is used for cutting holes in sheetrock for various applications like a junction box for an outlet or cutting PVC or metal pipes. The jigsaw attachment on the other hand is better suited for cutting circles or shapes in wood. For each attachment there are a variety of blades to choose from for each cutting application. For example the reciprocating saw uses longer blades, they start off wide at the attached end tapper down narrow to the tip. Very difficult to cut circles but easy to cut rectangular shapes in surfaces. The jigsaw attachment uses shorter blades for fine to rough cuts on the type of wood media your cutting. The blades are straight and even on both ends. There is a bigger selection of blades to choose from when using the jigsaw attachment. I had been pruning trees with a corded reciprocating saw until I bought this attachment. With limbs larger than five inches in diameter I've had to get the chainsaw. You will also need the double capacity battery and the quick charger to be trimming hardwood branches especially for the cleanup.
