I was completely new to miniature painting when I bought this set, and I haven't tried any other brands of paint, so I can't compare quality with anything else. What I can tell you though is that in terms of value and range of colours included, I'm pretty sure this is the best miniature painting set available on Amazon at time of writing (without going crazy and buying a giant box featuring every shade of the spectrum).I was able to paint much nicer figures with these than I was ever expecting to, and making my own mixes was hardly ever necessary as there was such a comprehensive range of colours included in the box. I especially like that there were a couple of washes included, which are truly the key to making miniatures look extra-special, as well as a couple of metallics which are great fun to use. And the bottles are a good size too - I've painted around 180 figures so far and none of the colours have run out yet (although some are getting close).The only downsides I can't think of are that some of the paints are definitely more watery and require more layers than others (I'm not sure this is a brand issue so much as just the way those colours inherently are), and the brush it comes with is a token afterthought (you will absolutely need to get a proper set separately, as well as primer and varnish); but really I'm just nit-picking here, as I was able to achieve everything I wanted and more with this set. If you're looking to get into miniature painting, I really can't recommend this box enough.

Good selection and ideal fir beginners

It has been a while since I did any painting, I would always buy the citadel paints before now but after looking at all the many reviews and different websites I decided to try a different brand. I was going to get a different set but the fact the undercoat spray can was included with 3 brushes it looked like a good deal. After using them for a few weeks I found them to be really easy to use and dried really quickly so you did not need to wait long to add the extra highlights. In all I am very happy with my purchase. It would have been 5 stars if the paint had been a touch thicker for my liking but that is just my preference.

Everything is mostly all good the xtra terrain broke in the box and is all over everything but im sure itll be okay to just wipe the paints .Other than that small thing everything looks good cant wait to paint my minis

I am brand new to painting. I bought this set, I've since painted over 100+ 28mm models with these colours and I'm not even half way through any of the bottles. This inexpensive kit could be all you need! I did buy more metallic and gemstone paints for more varied armour, but generally using these and a bit of mixing I've gotten pretty much every non-metallic colour I needed, and plenty of them.The paint seems easy to work with following standard YouTube guides. No problems with coverage or anything like that.

Good paints on the whole some are really thin and take several coats to look like they should

Bought this set to paint some miniatures and am largely very happy with the colours and quality of the paints, also this set has a good mix of colours for a basic set, which was all I need as I was replacing older paints that had been in storage and a few had gone a bit iffy.Sadly have to take a couple of stars off as a few of the paints (particularly the grey and the browns), are far far too watery to be of use. Even with extensive shaking, and trying to get of any built up water excess in the top of the bottles, these colours were unusable.Entirely possible I somehow got a bad batch, but the similarity of the colours suggests to me that they just don't mix greys and browns very well for some reason, so may be worth considering an alternative if these colours are essential to your models.

I’m a complete beginner so was looking for a good starter set in order to paint the miniatures in my Talisman board game. As I’ve not done this before, I have nothing to compare these paints to, but I personally think they are great! Terrific range of colours, really vibrant, and cover well. The couple of metallic paints & washes add to this, making it a great starter pack. I advise getting a set of fine brushes if you are planning to paint miniatures as the one included in the pack is a little large; but at least you can get painting straight away. Overall, thoroughly recommended.
