I have bleached and dyed my hair all sorts of fun colors at home before, but never just my roots or a typical “natural” color before from a box dye. I would say this dye did the job and I really enjoyed the ease of use, not having to mix the color and developer separately. I also like that I can use the left over dye because it only dispenses what you need. If you have never dyed your hair before you may have some trouble getting all of your roots by yourself, however someone inexperienced could help you easily. If you’re just dyeing your visible roots, it doesn’t get much easier than this! I was worried I may miss a few pieces of hair but honestly cannot find anywhere on my head that didn’t get dyed.For your reference:-I have thick, fluffy, semi coarse hair and I didn’t even use the whole bottle. Again, I dyed ALL my roots.-my natural hair color is dark strawberry blonde/light brown. Can’t say how well it’ll work for grays-the color is darker than is advertised. I would say it’s closer to VERY dark brown/espresso to almost black. It would have matched my original hair color if that was not faded. My roots just appear slightly darker though, which is fine with me.-can’t comment on the longevity because I only did this last night. If it appears to fade easily I will update this review.-very mess free! I didn’t get a drop of it on my bathroom counter or walls and it didn’t seem to “stick” to the gloves like some other dyes do-it will dye your skin easily and is harder to get it out the longer it sits-some parts had dye for 40ish minutes, some for only 10, I haven’t noticed a difference in their appearanceOverall I highly recommend this hair dye. It really is the easiest way to dye your roots. Also LOVE the price - looks the same as if I had gone to a salon

My grey roots grow in about every 2 weeks. I cannot go to the salon that often. Other single-use products are expensive and it's wasteful to buy all that packaging if I was buying every 2 weeks. To deal with that, I used to try and buy a full-size permanent color and then measure out small amounts to apply to my roots. It was time consuming and messy. First time I used this, I did not think it covered that well, but I found that just had to leave it on a little longer to cover my very stubborn greys. Now I love it. Just leave it on my bathroom counter and brush some on as needed. It says 3 uses but I get more like 4-5 (I get those roots as soon as visible). I like that the cap can be used for mixing, making it compact and easy. I have told other women about this, as it's rare that something comes along that actually works as intended and saves me a little money. Nice. PS I wanted to comment on what ppl are saying about it being dark. I have found that the longer I leave it on, the darker it gets. I want it to lift those greys but have to watch it closely or it turns out much darker than the color on the box.

I liked this product because it was very easy to apply. First time I dyed my grays on my own, and this product was incredibly easy to use. Followed the instructions and applied it 5 - 7 min on my roots, and wash it well. The only downside is that the product was too strong for my skin. My scalp burned for 2 days, even though I have used it for little time. The smell was also very strong for me.I bought the dark brown (my hair is dark- almost black), and it cover my grays and left them as cooper highlights (do not look bad to be honest). It’s my 3rd week Since I applied it, and I still have the product (though I stop washing my hair everyday since the color was vanishing fast). Now I was my hair every over day.I think I’ll give it a second try. Next time will apply the product for 4 minutes. If it is still to strong for me unfortunately will have to stop using it. But if it wasn’t because of this I’ll use it always.

Easy to use, just like coloring the hair but way faster, no residue, just pure color. It's an excellent product and I'm so happy it's back. But the price is ridiculous. I will use it only for some special occasions now, like a vacation.

I love the ease of the root covering method of this product and that I could get 3 uses out of a box. The color was perfect for me. Ever since Covid lockdown, I could no longer find the Dark Brown anywhere online or in stores. I wish they would have continued it.I've since tried Clairol Keratina (which was so liquid-y, it splashed everywhere and damaged my walls and bathroom tile), Schwarzkopf (which made my hair smell for a solid week). I notice that these other formulas lift off within days after several shampoos. They reveal my grays so much faster than Root Erase. :( Still haven't found a good replacement.
