Q: Why is this caught in the US and processed in another country.

It’s caught in the Usa thank goodness cause the water is cleaner. Usa does not have any processing plants that is why it’s sourced out. Don’t throw the juice out, it’s omega 3.

Q: Is this brand nitrate free?

The label says skipjack tuna and salt, packed in Thailand, sustainably caught, Dolphin safe, BPA free, Additive free, Mercury tested (“lowest mercury of any brand”). There is no other information.

Q: How does it compare to Wild Planet Tuna which is supposed to be low mercury?

Safe Catch is the only brand that tests every single fish for mercury which is why Safe Catch Elite is the lowest mercury tuna of any brand and the Official Tuna of the American Pregnancy Association. Wild Planet and Safe Catch both catch tuna of similar size and from similar locations. The fact is mercury levels in individual wild tuna vary widely regardless of size and location and we see mercury tests for two smaller identical tuna vary by over 10X times or more. Safe Catch tests each and every fish to strict mercury limits and Wild Planet does not. About 1 out of 3 tuna are not pure enough to be Safe Catch Tuna. Wild Planet does not test individual tuna to a mercury limit. Wild Planet tests less than 0.0005% of its cans for mercury levels while 100.00% of Safe Catch cans have had the actual tuna fish screened to strict purity levels. Wild Planet has removed its prior claim of âLow Mercuryâ from its canned tuna label.

Protein packed and delicious

I love this tuna because it's high protein packed. But best of all the lowest Mercury and very delicious tasting. I had a little Dijon mustard and it is a great meal.

Best Tuna Ever

Best Tuna I have ever had! I bought this tuna as an experiment. When I opened the can, I was happy to see large flakes of tuna not that mushed up shredded and torn stuff I usually see. That is when I knew this was going to be a fantastic experiment! I took out one or two big chunks, mixed the rest with the tuna jives, and then ate those flakes right out of the can! WOW, what a great taste!
