Good.
I’ve struggled with two big issues throughout my audio listening career: convenience and comfort. Since owning my first iPod, I’ve spent a long time with ear-buds. They’re either too big, bulky, or just sound like crap. Personally, I’ve always been a fan of headphones — you know, the ones that go over your ears instead of making unwanted love to your vestibule.Since the dawn of the iPhone there has been a growing number of Apple ready audio headgear; somewhat bridging the gap between convenience and comfort. Sadly though these, in my experience, have usually come in two flavors: expensive, or they disintegrate if you so much as look at them.Having to lug around giant headphones is a pain, so like most people, I’ve defaulted to whatever spare white ear-buds I have lying around… until this week when we received a happy medium, the Munitio “Billets.” Usually doing product reviews isn’t my thing, but for this particular instance, I felt my opinion might actually mean something.DESIGNThe ear-buds are designed to look like empty 9mm casings made of aluminum. Keep in mind, these are aimed at the Call of Duty crowd. That thought aside, I actually found the design to be aesthetically pleasing. At first glance you can’t tell you have bullets in your head, granting Munitio a couple extra points for subtlety for the design. And, since you can adjust the tip (go ahead, laugh it up), I was able to find a good balance between comfort and stability.SOUNDI did something really stupid Friday night… something I don’t recommend you do, ever. I’m among the few in Los Angeles who don’t drive a car, at least not on a regular basis. I ride my bike daily from home to work with a trip on the Red Link in between. I usually listen to music or play my 3DS on the subway, but never when I ride; I have a strange fear of getting hit by a silent Toyota Prius or angry relative. On the ride home at 9:30PM I thought I would give the new Billets a try since the streets of North Hollywood were rather empty. As I made my way home playing Kavinsky on Pandora, I could barely make out the sound of cars whizzing by be or even the giant bus that almost nicked me. It was neither the safest noise-cancellation test, nor the smartest, but I can safely proclaim that the dance party from my phone stayed inside my head while nothing else from the outside world could. After I got home and escaped certain death, I realized something: the bass in Billets was really damn good. Keep in mind I was blasting electronicia all night where the “wub wub wub” was a bit more pronounced than your typical Enya track. But the recent bike ride of death led me to believe that I could squeeze in some game time with the same earphones. Before jumping on my PC, I consulted the press release one more time, noticing the fine print, “Not Intended for Console Use”. Well peanut butter wasn’t intended to pleasure ones self with his or her favorite pet, but we do it anyway. After a couple minutes of deliberation, I started a couple games of the BF3 beta (the irony, amirite?). The game sounded great and the noise cancellation worked just as well at home. At one point my fiancée walked behind me, said something and walked away… or didn’t. I’m actually not sure since I couldn’t hear anything coming out of her mouth. *Man Five!*BOTTOM LINEAs a traveler of the world constantly looking for things that go in and around my ears, I would have to rank the Munitio Billets pretty high. At about $90, they fall somewhere in the middle of my “cheap or expensive” list . If you’re like me and you’re in the market for some new military themed earphones or just want some slick sounding bullets in your head, I highly recommend giving the Munitio Billets a go.

4 Stars out of the box, 5 Stars Upgraded!!
Recently got the Munitio MW3 Billets on sale. The reviews looked good and the one main thing that attracted me were the comments that these earphones had TONS of bass. I usually use Shure IEMs (owned 5 or 6 pairs over the years) Sennheiser IEMs, and a wide variety of over the ear closed cans.I have to say these do not dissapoint on bass. They have tons more bass than any of the IEMs I've owned.I'll keep the rest simplePros:- BASS- They have cool looking aluminum housings- Comes w/inline mic for use w/cellphone- Phone calls sound great mic works well (Better than the mic on my Vmoda Crossfades)- Great value at a discounted price ($9.99 + S/H)Cons:- The silicon tips were very uncomfortable, providing very little padding against the hard aluminum housing- Highs and mids are nowhere as crisp/clean as my other IEMs- Highs roll off so you feel like youre missing some of the higher notes- Lots of cord noise during movementNow on to the upgraded billetsI had some extra Comply T-400 foam tips I'd bought for another set of IEMs.I put them on the Billets and WOW!- They are super comfortable now, lots of padding, and even better sound isolation than before.- The better seal really improved the clarity of the highs and mids- Didn't do a thing for the highs rolling offConclusion: IMHO they are now worth 2 - 3x more w/the Comply tips

Needs breaking in, cord could be longer.
The rubber cord on these buds don't fill me with the same sort of confidence as fabric cables do, and they're a little on the short side if you plan on keeping your media player in your trouser pockets or clipped to your belt. The sound produced is great, provided your media player has the appropriate EQ setting, and it gets better with prolonged use (it's even stated in the manual that they need to be broken in). My phone doesn't support the in-line mic control, so I can't attest to it.The box it comes in is needlessly fancy, but it speaks to the quality of the manufacture, as opposed to something that comes in a blister package or clamshell. There are two sets of each size of Hollow Point (tm) cushion, one set clear and MW3 Green, and the other just plain graphite. The detachable ear hooks are great, because they allow me to 'rest' the buds on my ear canals rather than stuff them in, creating that vacuum that most earbuds create when worn. Not something I'd pay the full price of $70 for, so I'm glad I got it at the Amazon marked down price. If these happen to sell out, I'd recommend a pair of JVC Xtreme-Xplosives (HA-FX1X, not the HA-FX3X).

One of the BEST under $100. (Comparison Included)
Some of the best headphones out there, for the price. Here's what most of you want to know: Is it worth the price? YES. ($30 at time of this review.) Why? Because it does what it does better than other headphones at a similar price point. Compared with V-Moda Vibe (not Vibe Duo!), these earphones provide more ample bass and enjoyable mids and highs. After playing with software equalizers (as all good techies/audiophiles should,) these really come to life. On both a laptop and a smart phone these bring full bass and an impressive sound-stage. However, compared with SoundMAGIC E10 earphones, these are a little less crisp on the top end, and the bass can sometimes muddle and overpower the mids. That's not necessarily bad though, as the slightly "softer" result is easier to listen to for long periods of time and the E10s can get somewhat harsh. These definitely deliver for the budget-minded. If you love bass, or listen to your music much louder than you probably should... these are for you. The product quality and packaging are very much above average, it's a "limited edition", and they look cool.Very comfortable with a huge selection of included tips in grey/black and grey/green. I use these for hours at a time while studying or working. Definitely a great investment!
