these are pretty nice technical pencils. not 100% sold on the long taper at teh tip (reason for knocking a star off) but i have to say, i think these are better than the flagship gg1000's. imo, the retractable tip is a bit of a gimmick and doesnt make up for the lackluster design as far as feel and comfort goes. the 500's seem to get much closer to the mark as far as feel and comfort.

What you would expect from Pentel
Pentel is all I buy for myself when looking for a mechanical pencil. I have used the Sharp model most of my life and wanted an upgrade just to treat myself, im glad I did. I am impressed with the looks, the weight (all of the metal give it some good weight while not making it heavy), and the range of thickness from this kit. Would recommend.

Best deal on these pencils!
I'm a sketch artist and I've been using the graphgear 500 series for a little over a decade, these are definitely my personal preference for mechanical pencils, super versatile, great for control. This is only the third time I've purchased these over the years (and once because my bag got stolen), these are literal tanks! Seriously, get a set, you won't regret it.
