A good but very flawed visual novel that won't be for everyone
I'll preface this by saying that while the game overall I thought was good, if Amazon had a 3.5 star rating, that's what this would get. For the good parts of the game, most importantly, the storyline is good, managing to be funny, tense, and touching through the 15 or so hour experience. The characters are likeable and the production values of the game are very high by visual novel standards, using well-rendered 3D models mixed in with 2D art and lots of scenes from the anime spliced in there. The Japanese voice acting is very good and the music is good as well. For the bad, this game's main mode of interactivity is through arranging certain things in each chapter of the game to get a certain outcome. This concept is done in a manner similar to the game Ghost Trick....it's just done much more poorly. Whereas Ghost Trick shows you roughly what will happen in a scene beforehand and allows you to extrapolate what to do based off that in elaborate fashion, Punch Line basically makes you guess through much less elaborate setups so it feels underwhelming. The pacing of the game will not be for everyone, as it starts very slowly focusing more on the slice of life aspect of the game to establish the characters. The game is divided into chapters and at the beginning and end of each chapter you get the anime's full opening and ending videos. While they are done well, they are each about 2 minutes long and are UNSKIPPABLE for reasons that are beyond me. And down near the end of the game, without spoiling anything the player is made primarily a spectator for the last two hours of the game, with little interaction. So while I personally enjoyed the good parts of the game, it is very flawed and not for everyone, even if you are a fan of the genre.

Weirdest game I have ever played.
If you like to see underwear, this is your game. Otherwise, it probably is not. Not sure what category I fall into.

I'm glad I purchased this game for under twenty. Yes, it's a visual novel. Yes, there's gratuitous panty shots. Yes, it's kinda quirky, but I'm like..... "eh." It fulfills my desire to play visual novel games but doesn't PULL me in like it does with the main character and the ridiculous panty shots lol.Just finished chapter 7, so I think I'm halfway through? Review is based on the first 7 chapters completed. If you have other pressing games to play, I'd pass on this. I didn't have any other games to play, so this was alright for what I paid. It's not SO boring where I'd rather give up the money I'd spent to do something else, honestly playing through to see if there's a pay off at the end. Never saw the anime, although Utoob has it.Synopsis of main events: You are a ghost and must solve puzzles in order to progress the story along. For some reason, if you look at panty shots too long, apparently the game is over due to innuendos about explosions. One reviewer mentioned that it was difficult to discern what items needed to be triggered to set up everything... Not sure about the later parts of the game, but for the first 7 chapters - this is cakewalk compared to a Professor Layton game. Grab all of the variables, and see what could be stuck together. Catherine was a much more difficult game and that was time based, too !Finally - someone mentioned you couldn't skip the intro and outro cutscenes...... I accidentally JUST stumbled upon this - you HOLD THE X BUTTON !!! Skips it. Good luck to anyone reading this and I hope I saved you some time! =)3/5 stars. "EH" if you have nothing to do, this is cheap entertainment.

Visual novel with some funny moments and unique gameplay
The product came in perfect condition. I was a little dissappointed in the lack of game play, but that falls on me for not looking up more info before purchase. I know this is based off of the show thow i have not seen it. It had a good story all around with funny moments and unique style of game play. I do wish there was more gameplay in it though. With maybe a total of 5 hours of gameplay out an 11 is hour game it has more visual novel aspects. Except for the last episode which is what i think the just last episode of the anime. But it does make it up with having an easy tophy system in my opinion.Overall a great experience, for both the ordering process and gameplay.

From the writer of the Zero Escape Games
Based upon the anime written by the writer of the Zero Escape Games Kotaro Uchikoshi, directed by visual novel veteran Takumi Nakazawa who had previously collaborated with Uchikoshi on the Infinity series. There are gameplay sections, but the meat of the game are the visual novel sections which as the game progresses start to feel more and more pulled out of a Zero Escape game down to some of the ambient music. Starts out as your basic anime fare but appearances are deceptive. No artistic decisions which have been made are arbitrary. The plot is highly developed and reveals itself in layers. Recommended.
