Camino Island

Good novel, a very nice summer read even though I read it in spring. A good plot not too complicated that I would have loved to read out on a beach somewhere.

Dass John Grisham auch andere Geschichten erzählen kann als die von juristischen Verstrickungen und Geplänkeln, hat er gelegentlich schon bewiesen. Mit Camino Island gelingt es ihm erneut, andere Pfade zu beschreiten.Von Anfang an erzählt der Autor seine Geschichte auf sehr spannende Weise, Grisham ist Profi und das merkt man auch hier. Er springt von Schauplatz zu Schauplatz, stellt Ereignisse und Personen vor ... und nach und nach fließt dann alles zusammen und auf ein Ende zu, bei dem die Spannung nicht nachlässt bis zu den letzten Sätzen.Einen kleinen Spaß erlaubt er sich, indem er Stephen King einen Auftritt absolvieren lässt ... ganz am Rande. Nett.Eine packende Geschichte meisterhaft erzählt - was will man mehr? Auch (oder gerade deshalb?) ohne Juristen ein großartiger Grisham-Roman. Einer meiner bisher liebsten sogar. Daumen hoch!

as always with Grishameasy to read and some charming unrealistically attractive characters.and a good ? ending.I liked the book and will buy a paperback version of his another book on Camino Island.

Perhaps not as suspenseful as some of his other books, Camino Island is less a crime thriller and more a crime study. It’s a story about writers, publishers, book collectors and a guy who masterminded the theft of some rare first editions from Princeton University’s Library vaults.There’s no real mystery as far as “whodunit” but it’s still a good read that maintains a comfortable pace with everything being brought together at the end.Camino Island is not a “legal” story of the kind Grisham readers are most familiar with, but that takes nothing away from this one. Give it a chance and I think you’ll find it quite enjoyable.
