Product Description The Supersuckers are joined by Willie Nelson, Kelley Deal (Breeders,) and others. .com Let me be the first to take the Supersuckers to task for making their worst record yet: a "bona fide" country album. Problem is this sounds like the 'Suckers learned how to play country via some correspondence course advertised in the back of the Austin Chronicle. Musically, the songs are shamefully rote and remedial, and are only marginally saved by contributions from real country session musicians. The lyrics aren't particularly inspiring either, ranging from typical drugs and drinking fodder ("Non-addictive Marijuana" and "Hungover Together"--a Best Kissers in the World cover) to cliched hacks such as "Dead in the Water." I've got no problem with bands taking a new direction, as long as they can pull it off with some aplomb. The Supersuckers have always been masters of yer basic three-chord punk rock anthems, but they're in way over their heads on Must've Been High, where their limitations become very obvious: They just don't know how to write good, heartfelt country tunes. And while a guest appearance by Willie Nelson might be good for credibility, it really doesn't help this awful record one single lick. --Adem Tepedelen

I wish all country music was like this....
Reading the Amazon.com reviewer's slam of this album - I just had to give the tracks a quick scan.. Liking what I heard, I bought the album (via download). I have to say, I very much enjoy this. It's more Johnny Cash then Taylor Swift. Maybe that's where the reviewer kind of lost what was going on here. Total jem of a disc..

Great band, not their best album
One of my favorite bands but not one of my favorite albums. Don't get me wrong, there is some good stuff on this album (Dead in the Water and Roadworn and Weary) but it's not quite up to par with their other albums. I'm not a big fan of country, and that has a bunch to do with the review. I respect the fact they did what they wanted to do, how they wanted to do it but it isn't really my style. Great live band- check them out when they come around, they don't disappoint.

I had to hunt for this, after a brief loan from a friend 10 years ago. Finally got the band's name correct and bought this puppy, promptly insisting my friends listen to it!

The most important American music album
This ineluctable homage to country music by an otherwise cowpunk band may be the most important American music album ever made

Take the stick out already...
Let me guess that the reviewer didn't get the fantastic humor and irony behind S.O.D. either? This is great album. I saw the SS at Willies 4th of July picnic in Luckenbach in the 90's around the this time (the first time Waylon was ever in Luckenbach). Lighten up Adem.
