Q: does the unit come with the cable for the connection from the receiver and amplifier?and does the body pack need a wire to connect to the headset?

Hi,This unit does not come with any cables to connect the receiver to the amplifier. That will have to be purchased separately.The headset is a wired headset that has a cable to connect to the body pack.

Q: Will this unit connect to an ion pathfinder portable speaker .

I am not sure about an Ion. My receiver unit connects to a Fender Passport PD150 PA system using a standard XLR Male/Female cable.

Q: Why would one buy the H8 versus the M15? I see they are different frequency but what would that mean?

There is no difference in the unit itself other than what frequency band it operates on. Different frequency bands will have different occupied / non-occupied channels which could affect whether you have interference or drop outs during use. Refer to Shure's wireless frequency finder page: http://www.shure.com/americas/support/tools/wireless-frequency-finder to find out which frequency band best suits your area. The H8, K12 and M15 bands are now discontinued and not recommended for future use. The current bands are the H9, H10 and J10.

Hasta 12 sistemas BLX pueden operar juntos al mismo tiempo. Es importante configurar cada sistema uno a la vez. Una vez que un receptor y un transmisor estén sintonizados en el mismo grupo y canal, deje el transmisor encendido. De lo contrario, los escaneos de los otros receptores no detectarán ese canal como ocupado. El BLX14/PGA31 es excelente para Presentadores, Entrenadores de gimnasio, pero no es recomendable para cantar"
