Crochet in a Day for Baby: 20 Quick & Easy Projects Paperback – July 23, 2012

I was out to find quick and easy projects for an upcoming baby shower and that is just what I found! I did the ivory and blue stripped sweater and the ivory and blue stripped hat (in color's of my own choice of course) I found the patterns simple an it was very easy to complete. The sweater took me a day and a half to complete because I took breaks while making it but I was very happy with the turn out, it was my first time making a sweater of any kind and it looks very good. The hat was simple and took a couple hours to finish. I am very happy with how they turned out and am planning on using this book again to make some things for my own baby on the way. Would recommend to anyone looking for fast and easy but very cute projects for babies!

Easy patterns and the vast majority are accomplished by a DC, SC moss stitch. Classic designs and simple patterns. Lovely collection.

I consider myself about intermediate level hooker. I bought this book after seeing it advertised in Hershner's catalog. I wanted to see other reviews and "look inside" first before purchasing, and I was excited. Most of what I make is gifts for others, and this book was right up my alley. Upon arrival I was not disappointed. Great for beginners, but also stuff to keep those busy who are looking for a step beyond simple.

These are cute patterns, but as another reviewer said, there's aren't rally 20 patterns. There is a pullover pattern, and variations; a cardigan pattern, and variations, and so on. and the variations are simple color changes.And of course the designs are simple, as would be logical for a "crochet in a day" book.

I love this book!! Saying that, I have a couple of problems I am not understanding. I have made 2 cardigans in the last two weeks and they are beautiful!! I made the off white with the blue trim. When using the blue trim all around the sweater it has you using single crochet up part of the edge then go into half double crochet and back. Then it has you making two chains and skip a stitch and slip stitch into the next stitch. Is that the button hole? Also it says girls buttons are on the right, Should they be on the left? I think the picture shows it on the right. I am getting confused about the side the buttons should be on and where and how the button hole band should be. I wish someone could help me and anyone else that has a problem. Am I reading this wrong? I have been crocheting for twenty years and every now and then something does confuse me. Everything else on that sweater works up like a dream. I want to try to make a lot of the other items too. Don't be afraid to add your own little designs to these items and you can change the colors and the yarn on them too, I did. Thanks Candi!!

I was so happy to get these beautiful simple patterns. I was able to crochet a pair of booties, a hat and a sweater in less than 3 days, a total of about 15 hours.

Finished the striped blanket last week and it turned out lovely. Years ago I made the other blanket, same stitches but more of a large border. As others mention, not a ton of variation, but if you are starting out a good way to master pieces without trying to relearn every time. Wish the hats had a magic circle variation. Will try the booties next. Not really projects I'd finish in a day, don't get your hopes up! :)

This book has a wonderful selection of super easy patterns to chose from that can be truely made in one day. It is not for newborn but neither are the patterns as they are made with worsted weight yarn.
