Definitely a must for a young child.
The kids needed a keyboard for school use. This worked well with their tablets. Held up the entire school year.

Very nice portfolio cover with one exception
I really like this cover. The silicone sleeve protects the edges of my iPad and provides a place for my Apple Pencil to be secure and protected without obscuring the screen. The portfolio is sturdy and allows the iPad to rotate so it can be in either portrait or landscape mode. The silicone sleeve that surrounds the iPad is detachable from the portfolio and is held in place by a magnet. The keyboard is also removable and held in place by a magnet. The keyboard is a nice size, works well, was easy to pair via Bluetooth and has a backlight in multiple colors. The keyboard does sit on top of the grooves in the portfolio that allows the portfolio to act as a stand with 3 adjustable angles. So, the keyboard has to be removed to use this feature. The portfolio as a stand works best on a desk. When working with the iPad in my lap it is easier to remove it from the portfolio. The keyboard is also a little awkward when using in my lap due to its light weight and size. A lap desk of some kind is helpful. My only complaint is that the sleeve and the portfolio have shallow nesting circles that attach the two via internal magnets. This allows the iPad to rotate while still being attached to the portfolio. When I opened the box, these were nested properly allowing the camera holes in the sleeve and portfolio to line up and the flap to close. Unfortunately, I've only been able to successfully line this up a few times. The more I use it the more difficult it has become. It's like the magnet has reversed polarity and they now repel each other as you can see by the circle floating above the iPad in the picture. If the circles are offset slightly then they attract but then I can't close the portfolio. Not sure how to fix this.**UPDATE**I’ve continued to use this cover and I’ve noticed that I can get the circles on the back of the silicone sleeve and the portfolio to fit together properly more often. When I’m at home, I usually use my iPad without the portfolio, sometimes for days at a time. I am substitute teacher and I use the portfolio to pack my iPad and as a stand when I’m at school. It seems to me that if the magnets in the portfolio and sleeve are repelling each other, keeping them separate for several days helps resolve this.

Heavy, clunky, not easy to use, too many problems with it
I really wanted a nice iPad case that included a (detachable) keyboard and a place to keep my Apple pencil. This case does all of those, just not well at all and it's got a whole bunch of other flaws that really detract from its ease of use and handling. First the keyboard: it's super thin and lightweight, but does not do well with fast typing. I don't know if it just can't keep up with me or what, but the error rate is much, much higher on this keyboard than any others I use. It does have colorful back-lighting, but you can only see it in a dark setting. There is no battery percentage indicator; the only clue your battery needs charging is when the teeny little blue light in the upper right starts blinking. I have no idea how much power you have left when that happens. It pairs nicely with the iPad the first time, but sometimes seems to lose its pairing and you need to go into Bluetooth settings on the iPad to reconnect. It should pair the minute you turn it on. As for the case itself: it seems sturdy enough but it is also clunky and heavy. If you store the keyboard inside the case, it's even heavier, but if you don't do that, you have no way to protect the keyboard when you are not using it. When the keyboard isn't attached, opening and shutting the case is not smooth. There are so many folds that you need two hands to maneuver it all to get it closed up just right. I often feel like I'm going to drop the whole thing or the iPad is going to fall out. If you want to use the case as a stand, there are three grooves in the one flap so you can set it up for viewing. If you are not in one of those grooves, the iPad slips and goes flat. This is not an issue if you have the keyboard attached to the flap as the edge of the keyboard will hold the iPad in place. The Apple pencil holder is very good--it's the exact right size, is easy to get out via a slot in the back, and there is a little holder for the cap for when you are charging the pencil. Finally, the buttons that you use to control your iPad are awful. The on/off switch at the top right of the iPad is really, really hard to get to, as are the two volume / brightness buttons at the top right side of the iPad. The reason they are hard to get to is because that is where the piece of the outer case is attached to the part that holds the iPad itself. The back piece extends beyond the iPad case and that is where you need to get your finger in to adjust things--and it's really, really hard to get in there to do that (and I don't have large fingers). The cutout for the charging cable at the bottom of the iPad is so close to the input slot on the iPad that you have to be very precise to get the charger into the right spot on the iPad. For the most part, you can't do it without looking directly at it; this is not the case with other cases I've had. Overall, I'm disappointed with the product.

Not responsive enough
The response on this keyboard is not that great. It’s even worse when the keyboard backlight is on. Would probably have returned if I didn’t already toss the packaging. Also be sure to check the weight. It’s a heavy one.
