Suggestions for improvement.
Overall I think the lantern is good. I only have 2 suggestions for improvement:1. Use LEDs more in the yellow to amber range. The light output is very cool, white and is harsh on the eyes. Moving it far away would help, but a softer (yellow) frequency would be much easier to handle.2. There is no indication of battery status, no way to tell how much charge is left on the battery, and I bought it to use as an emergency light for inside the house during blackouts. I can always tell how much battery life is left on my phone -- why not this lantern. If we have another blackout and the battery is dead, I am going to be angry.

The hand crank to charge
This is the second light I have ordered. I can't tell you how many times we have needed an emergency light when power is lost and like most people we all know, the batteries are dead!! Who remembers to check this right? So I ordered one to see if it really worked with a hand crank to charge AND not to mention the solar charging. That was wonderful when we were camping, just set it outside when you are enjoying the trip and light at night around the campfire. So I ordered another one and I love them. The best investment , since I had other ones that left me disappointed.

Doesn’t charge iphone
This is a fine little lantern, but will not charge an iPhone. It immediately gets a “device not supported error.” Since the whole point was to charge the phone as well as provide light, it only does half what was expected.

Small and bright (for a while)
A couple of years ago, we purchased several solar/crank LED lanterns that were larger and had twice the LED's. This lantern is more compact, is as bright or brighter and lasts hours longer. Great value for the money. We're buying two more.UPDATEWhen I said, "lasts hours longer", I was taking the word of the product description and other reviews, since it supposedly has a 3,000 mah battery. Well I started the lantern at 5 pm and the LED's finally died at noon the next day, 19 hours later. BUT, its brightness lasted less than 3 hours. The rest of the time the LED's were like a weak night light. Very disappointing since it supposed to last 30 hours or so

Small but Mighty
Oh how I wish we had these little wonders last week during the Texas blizzard. We were without power for 6 days in East Texas, and had only a few candles (thank goodness for my obsession with Bath and Body Works scented candles!) and one small flashlight to help us fend off the icy darkness every night. Trying to read by candlelight is NOT nearly as romantic as some of the period romances on cable would have one believe. My eyesight worsened daily from the strain. These lanterns are small, lightweight, and appear to be well made. The hand crank actually powers up the light fairly easily. There is also a small solar panel and a USB charging port. Very versatile for such a petite package. I truly hope, however, that I have NO need of their illumination for a very, very long time. I intend to buy more of these orange cuties to give as gifts to my friends and neighbors who were also in the dark for days last week.

Nifty Little Lantern
I was asked to test this lantern and give my honest opinion of what I thought of it! I love it! As I am not a camper, in our household it will be used for emergency power outages and will be perfect! It is small, lightweight and has a very bright light. I like that it is rechargeable with a cord, also can be charged by solar and has a hand crank. Well worth the money, kids would love it for backyard overnights in a tent!

Small size Large light
This is hurricane central and i had been planning to purchase light sources that didn't require 1000 batteries. This was the coldest winter in my history , so I decided before something worse came along to purchase these lights. I bought 4. They are crank action with photo cells on the top. They put out a lot of light and cranking can recharge the battery . During the day or when you have power just sit them on the table under the light source and the photo cell on top will keep them charged until needed. They are small lightweight and could be great for a child's use. I have recommended to all my Family.

we love em
Bought one for my house and one for my mother, we unpacked it and the instructions were easy to read, flashlight is good and we were amazed at the light the actual lantern put out, only issue we had at first was deciding which was the charging port and which was the usb so you can use it for emergency for your sell too.. It is well protected as it collapses back down when not being used. things were easy to find and match up with the instructions. My mom was so impressed which is no easy task, she ordered another 10 for Christmas presents. moms says watch they may need to be charged first the first 2 we got were working to check them right outof the box, but outta the order with 10, 4 the flashlight somehow was on and drained the battery, 1 had a crank issue but my dad was easily able to fix it.

USB port does not charge iPhone.
USB Port does not charge iPhone. Check dimensions - it is quite small. Good if you want backpack portable.
