Tomato Strainer
Re Review, after trying this this past summer I was very amazed at how this machine had functioned in making tomato juice. it was quite faster than expected, easy to clean up, and done an amazing job. only thing is I was expecting it to be made of cast or some heavier material. But don't go by the looks of this product because it will definitely fool you It is very strong made and I expect it to be my last one I will ever need Very satisfied after using this product and seeing for myself how great a job it does . Naturally this is not the only function it will also do berries and other things. Very well pleased and would diffinily recommend this is great product. And to get a great product that is dependable and will last just remember this you get what you pay for. ,

I love that you do not need to steam the tomatoes ...
Really helps when you have lots of tomatoes or apples. I love that you do not need to steam the tomatoes first. Just finished making lots of marinara sauce and the Squeezo worked great. I do wish that it was a little easier to assemble, I always need the diagram to get it right, and to clean. Because of these 2 things, I only use it when I have a lot to do.

The "Squeezo Strainer" as this product is known is a must have for anyone who cans tomato juice or even tomato sauce. It has rugged construction and with the base clamp can easily attach to a table or other surface with a lip. The device comes with a standard sized screen for running tomatoes and has two optional screens (which I also purchased) for running berries and even pumpkin so that all seeds can be removed. Clean up is easy as everything is dishwasher safe. This past summer my wife and I canned over 40 quarts of straight tomato juice and another batch of vegetable juice as well. We love it!

Sorry we bought the Squeezo
You cannot imagine our disappointment when we used the Squeezo Strainer the first time. On our second kettle, we could not get the tomatoes through the screen because it clogged with shells. We had to get out our 40-plus year old Victoria Strainer to finish the remainder of our kettles of tomatoes. For 40 years we never had issues with tomatoes or apples with our Victoria Strainer. We thought we would update to a stainless steel, first class strainer as over all these years, the screen, shaft and spring had become "rusty" after use. You can imagine our disappointment when we spent four times the money for the stainless steel Squeezo to find that it does not work! Upon reading the instructions, we understand you need to put the tomatoes through raw and/or cooked and cooled down for this to work. When doing apples, they need to be cooled down before putting them through the strainer. How do we process bushels of apples, cool them down, without taking all day? This was not a problem, whatsoever, with the Victoria Strainer. These details of cooling down the apples and working with raw tomatoes was not communicated when advertising the Squeezo Strainer. Had we known this, we obviously would not have purchased it!

I expected a little better
I have used a Victorio Strainer in the past but chose a Squeezo because it is all Stainless Steel. However, I have to say I think the Victorio Strainer is more effective. The Squeezo failed its first job which was to press Concord Grapes. The seeds clogged it up fairly quickly. It just didn't seem like there was enough space around the spout to let them through with the skins. Second job, raw tomatos (quartered) was not as effective as I expected. I cooked them a little bit and then put them through which then was no problem. The handle does not turns especially smoothly. There is no rubber mat to keep the machine clamped well to a table. I had to wedge something in there because it was clearly made for a thicker table. I was really surprised with the Squeezo being around for so long that these kinks have not been worked out. Also, some very strange sexist language in the manual on how this tool appeals to a man's mind and sensibility.

maybe it was just bad luck and I received a bad one
As others in the rating comments I have already suffered the nylon bushing detachment after just 4 batches of tomato straining. I have put it back but it almost immediately detaches again. I will go buy a spare bushing and will comment more after, maybe it was just bad luck and I received a bad one.

A Useful, Well-Made Staple for the Kitchen
This strainer is perfect. It is easy to assemble, fairly easy to clean, and simple to use. It works just as described in the book that it comes with. I used it for apples (several gallons-worth), and it grinds and strains them perfectly. I had to disassemble and clean it after every two or three batches, but the simplicity of the design made that no problem. This will last many, many years!

Its has been an amazing addition to my canning year
I bought this unit July 11, 2014. Its has been an amazing addition to my canning year. I cannot imagine ever canning without it! Simply Wash and quarter tomatoes, the skins and seeds are seperated as fast as you can crank it. It certanly cuts the time in half. It is an all metal unit, however the handle is wood and there is a plastic grommet/washer at the end of the screen. This grommet failed on my unit just as I was finishing making sauce last year. After finally attempting to contact the company about my issue this year I am impressed with their customer service. They were friendly and easy to contact. Sent me out a replacement part that arrived in just 2 days. Super easy to repair and now my Squeezo is back to whole. I never write reviews, however I felt this American made product was worthy of note.
