Worked good until it quit
I bought this item less than a year ago. I used it last summer a lot. Took my boat out last weekend and it wouldn’t work. Very disappointed. It should last longer. Can’t figure out how to contact the seller either!

good motor;
I received this trolling motor and I used it several times this summer. I am well pleased with it. I use it on a 14 foot jon boat and I get a little over 3mph out of it on the GPS. I use it for traveling and I use a foot controll motor on the front for bass fishing. I have two batteries and this allows me to go farther, faster. Going a long distance on high with the foot controll motor was really a pain. On high speed you can't keep it straight. This motor is on the back and you can tighten the steering nut down a little and it is like auto pilot almost. Great motor for jon boats. (55 lbs thrust)

Sleek, quiet, intuitive
This is an amazing product! First time out with it on my canoe and I couldn’t stop grinning! I was thinking about a more powerful model, but the 55lbs pushes my 16’ canoe to just what’s almost uncomfortable with small lake wind ripples and cuts up a decent current (spring thaw). My only gripe is at higher thrust there is quite a shaft wobble that you can feel, not like those solid outboards. Very easy and intuitive to use. Delivered exactly what it promised, and that’s awesome these days. I’m getting a stabilizer nut and rudder to help with the oscillation. Their battery box is great too. I was out two hours with an optima yellow-top, went up the lake twice and floated back with the breeze and finished with about 1/3 battery left. Eventually planning on hooking up a 100w solar panel and a couple inflatable pontoons for longer camping trips.

Strong, efficient, quiet, and a touch hefty.
Powerful and efficient motor. It pushed me and my buddy, both #250+, as well as my Sea Eagle Foldcat 375 loaded with gear around the lake at a fair clip. We got caught by a thunder storm and were able to cruise back to shore, into the wind - 1 foot waves, without issue.As far as battery drain, we probably drove out about 1/2 mile, trolled on and off for an hour and a half, and drove in 1/2 mile. Not an all day experience, but the battery indicator showed good and the battery charger back home said 90% life left.As far as using it with the Sea Eagle Foldcat 375, it may be a bit too much motor for the transom in both weight and thrust. I will be doing some mods to correct a couple issues that were seen when the boat was loaded and in motion: Sags in the middle and flimsy transom.Why not 5 stars? I can not use one hand lift and stow very well. It seems to work nice when the motor shaft isn't completely extended, but for my application that configuration is req'd. I think the issue could be a combination of the weight of the motor itself + the flimsy transom issue mentioned above. Also, why can't Minn Kota just put 10'-12' cables on their motors stock?

Sounds like metal grinding on metal
Right out of the box it sounds like metal grinding on metal. Way too loud & too much vibration. Even the washer holding the prop on wasn't centered causing it to wobble off balance. After correcting that, it only sounded like a chainsaw. If you wanna fish without catching fish, this motor is a fit for you! It'll scare fish from the Atlantic to the Pacific bahahaha. To make matters worse, i wear hearing aids. I can't imagine how loud it is to someone without hearing difficulties. Minn Kota just lost my business after 40 years & several purchases. Byeeee Minn Kota, hello Motorguide

Great Motor
Ordered this trolling motor from Amazon after bad luck with another brand. I am well pleased with this system. Good quality throughout and very powerful! I use it on a 31 series marine deep cycle battery and it lasts longer than I ever expected. I can go all day off and on with it and still power left. Now don't get me wrong, you can't keep it going all day without shutting down at times. Have to be reasonable, no electric motor so far will last that long without changing batteries The battery meter is a nice touch.Used it once on a very windy day and after two miles of fighting wind it performed perfectly. The power of this one (55lb thrust) will surely do the job. The features are well thought out and like I said, the quality is top notch. Forward and reverse are smooth, the slide memory is easy to set and the large tension knob is right where you need it. I also ordered the handle extension by MinnKota to go along with it. Can't beat this for what it's designed for.Amazon is the only company I try to deal with because the customer service is beyond any I've seen. Shipping was fast and the comfort of knowing if it wasn't what I expected they will stand behind the product. Thanks again Amazon for a great product!

Amazing piece of technology at a great price.
First off, this is the newer Traxxis with the variable speed and digital maximizer, and not the Speed Coil version as someone below had stated. Compared to my 38# thrust Endura C2, this is a bit heavier, as the bottom half of the motor shroud is actually thick steel, and high quality. This motor has a few differences from previous models, so reading the manual for a list of features is recommended.The tilt mechanism is excellent, just remember not to try tilting the handle downwards without releasing the small switch on the bottom of the motor head.Another thing worth mentioning is that you should use a 60 amp circuit breaker with this motor (Minn Kota sells one they recommend). This motor draws 50 amps at the highest speed, and a failure at that draw could potentially cause catastrophic failure of not just your motor, but also your giant acid filled bomb they call a deep cycle battery.This does not come with the Weedless Wedge 2 prop as indicated, so if you really wanted that you will have to purchase it separately.
