I love these bowls
I love these bowls. Yes, you can get disposable bowls cheaper (but not that much cheaper); but if you are eating food out of them, these seem as toxin free as I can find. I have a specials needs daughter who is highly sensitive to environmental toxins, as well as wheat and gluten. She also insists on carrying her paper snack bowl with her all the time. (Always prepared!) So the lack of long-term topical exposure to cheap plastics, papers or waxy coatings makes me happy, and I couldn't consider a wheat grass option out there. These bowls are also simple in a lovely way. They stack ever so nicely, feel good to the touch and are a little weightier than cheap disposable bowls. I wish they were less expensive, but I'm grateful for them. I've ordered them twice so far and will continue to order and use regularly if they stay affordable.

with hot liquids they usually don't leak, but occasionally do
I saw a lot of disagreement in the reviews over the leakiness of these bowls under serious stress. My experience after 250+ bowls is that both are right. In most cases they can hold hot liquid for a considerable period of time with no problems (though they will get somewhat hard to hold-a bit floppy, a bit hot on the outside and/or condensation on the bottom). Occasionally, however, one will leak pretty badly. This seems to happen to a run of several bowls, and then they are OK again. In such cases you will probably want to double them, and/or eat up quickly. So not perfect--however good enough overall that I've reordered twice.

Sturdy enough to be gently hand washed & reused a few times....for my dog.
This is the 2nd time I've ordered these bowls. I use them as a dish liner to feed my 17 year-old Schnauzer from, as she is on a renal diet & I weigh each food item I add to the bowl by the ounce. I initially used one bowl for each meal, and prepared several meals at a time. However, the bowls are so sturdy I can use them for her more than once. They are made well enough that they can be lightly washed and then dried. I love doing this for the environment.

A good paper bowl.
How much can you say about a paper bowl? They arrived quickly and well packaged, are easy to store and use. They wear done somewhat quickly of holding a warm liquid but are compostavle and recyclable which is what I wanted. No plastic or styrofoam to stuff into a landfill. I'm happy with them

Great bowls. However be aware that if you put something hot with liquid in, it will come through the bottom within seconds. Works great for cereal and everything else, but i put beef stew in it and it almost immediately came through the bottom

Didn't soak through!
I conducted an experiment to see how long these bowls would hold up in liquid and they lasted a solid12 hours! They stayed in liquid over night and didn't soak through. I really like these bowls. I would definitely purchase again. I will be trying out the other bowls amazon offers that are a little bit cheaper next time. Great product! The second picture is after a whole night of sitting it's starting to soak through but it's not soggy. Still impressive!

Perfect size, able to handle anything!
Piping hot oatmeal, Italian wedding soup, ice cream, dog water bowl...these compostable bowls handled everything we threw at them during a multi day event. We saved and rinsed them so an attendee could compost them, I haven’t heard back from her yet, so can’t vouch for that part.

Be careful peeling a bowl out of the stack.
Only negative comment is you have to be careful when picking them up or you will get two bowls instead of one. Not quite as sturdy as some other brands, but work out OK.
