War of Christianity
Enjoyable reading seemed like one adventure after another but well written and enjoyed learning the historical aspects. Not unlike Americas beginning

Interesting historical read
Thoroughly enjoyed this engaging chronicle of the Del Peche family who lost everything but kept their principles, their faith and their belief in freedom. Through their many tria ls, I was able to really feel and experience the plight of immigrants everywhere and in every era...unwanted by the people in other countries, forbidden to make a living because of the competition for jobs and housing, unable to speak the language....it all may have occurred in the late 1600s, but it seems as current as ever. I learned a lot from this trilogy. If you like history and an engaging read, you will enjoy this.

Such a good read from start to finish.Historical fiction is my favorite. I was not disappointed. Now I have a clearer picture of the Huguenots struggle.

Interesting and Frustrating
This trilogy has some truly good writing in it from both a literary value, but also an adherence to minimum grammatical and editorial rules that many ebooks eschew. Good on you, Mr. Monk.My major issue I have is the events taking place, and the attitudes herein, reflect more of the woke-isms of modern day than the late 17th century actually exhibited. Not nearly as much as those novels completed in 2019 & 2020, but enough linking it more with today’s Leftist morays than the periods realities.Well worth plowing through.

A Wonderful Tale of Huguenot France
It is difficult to find such well-written and -researched historical novels in today’s world as the Huguenot Chronicles. The author does more than bring the period brilliantly to life, however; he creates characters based on real historical figures who would rather risk their lives, status and fortune than surrender their values and beliefs.I was interested in reading these books because my own ancestors were Huguenots. As a result, there has always been a strain of virulent anti-Catholic sentiment in our family which embarrassed me and which I was curious to understand. These marvelous books follow a (fictional) aristocratic Protestant family fleeing Catholic France. The characters must separate and go to different fascinating places such as the Indies, Cuba and New York, as well as much of Northern Europe. Each is involved in one adventure after another, from sailing across the Atlantic under the worst possible conditions to trying to survive, alone and with only the support of their wits and church, in England. As a result, the reader gets a glimpse of a myriad of different aspects of late 17th century European and early American society while being carried along by a fast-moving, exciting plot.Although there is no doubt that Protestants were persecuted in this time, the author is careful to include sympathetic Catholic characters, as well, and I came away with a much better understanding of the period. As an American suffering through these dark days of corruption in the highest offices in our land, it is a delight to disappear into a world populated by brave and spiritually serious characters. Inspiring, exciting, and uplifting!

Merci!

A Compelling Read
I purchased this book in 2011 but got around to reading it last month. I say reading it, in fact I listened to it on audible. It was amazing to listen to. I felt I was in the story with them. Every time I set a time to listen at bed time I kept putting it back on and listened into the night. I am on book 3 at the moment. The things these poor people went through all because of their religion was horrendous. I knew about the Huguenots and St Bartholomew Massacre but didnt realise it raised its head 100 years later and the consequences. Mr Monk tells a good story and keeps one interested in fact riveted to the story. I am in New York at the moment waiting for a passage to London (in the story of course) and am anticipating my date with the audio tonight.

Ancestral History
With ancestors who were Hugenots and shunted out of France I found these books were a good insight into some of what they went through. Well written and kept me interested from start to finish. Looking forward to reading the next issues.

Excellent story with real history thrown in.
This took a little while to get to follow the plot, but once you get the drift of things it's hard to put down. I have thoroughly enjoyed these books and would recommend them as a good easy read.
