Works great for my wok. I use it on top of my propane turkey base for stir fry. It holds the stir-fry pan securely.

I had purchased an Indian wok, which has a very curvy bottom, which didn't rest on my stove. This totally fixes that problem - it notches on to my existing gas burner cover and gives a stable resting place for the wok so I can sit it on the burner without having to hold it.And it's small enough to fit easily with my pots & pans most of the time.It's welded black metal and quite sturdy.Can't see any problem with heat distribution.I'm not sure it'd be easy to clean if cooking got really messy - it's not non-stick, and it has plenty of corners and crevices to be a challenge to clean. That said, I haven't really felt it needed cleaning - the wok doesn't spatter much, and I haven't dripped any food on it.

I've used conventional wok rings in the past with unsatisfactory results owing entirely to the ring not being fixed to the gas range grate, and hence, shifting positions while in use with the need of re-centering the ring to keep the wok inline with the flame. This cast iron ring locks onto your stove top grate, preventing movement and keeping the wok aligned with the center of heat. It's heavy and immovable in use, which increases user's pleasure and helps improve your continued interest in wok cookery. It also allows the wok to sit very close to the source of heat, maximizing high temperature applications. This, of course, is for round-bottomed woks only. The only regret I have is not having purchased something like this years ago.

Outstanding addition for my 12 and 14 inch woks on my gas stove and outdoor gas burner.This support ring gets your wok closer to the heat source than the traditional wok ring that elevates the wok 1.5 to 2 inches above the flame on a typical stove. It also provides more stability for the wok when you need to do more aggressive mixing maneuvers with utensils or by hand.I've been using the standard steel wok ring for decades - and this is a serious upgrade to generate more heat to the bottom of the wok when you want it - closer to "wok breath" than the taller ring of yore.Not an item for an electric heat source. Nice upgrade!
