Have a horizontally opening residential mailbox door that the route carrier won't close?
Just perfect for that application. The only thing not included is the round felt pad. These are pads used on chair feet on tile or wood floors.(uxcell 60pcs Furniture Pads Round 1 1/4" Self Adhesive Self-stick Anti-slip Anti-scratch Felt Pads Floor Protector Beige). It's use in this application is to protect the magnet on the inner frame. You'll need to cut or punch a hole in the felt pad to fit around the magnet. This does two things...protects the magnet because it is a sintered ceramic material and will shatter if struck hard and also provides a semi soft close feature. The felt pad has adhesive on the back so you just stick it on the frame over the magnet. The other image is self explanatory as concerns the retract mechanism. Both the inside box and door hook plate are mounted adhesively with pre-applied mounting tape. Just clean the mount area with some alcohol then just peel and stick the units in place. The wire rope has two small hex collets already mounted. The small allen key is used to adjust the collet locked loop on the left of the image. I drilled a very small hole in the door mount plastic hook and inserted an equally small wood screw to adequately capture the loop so it wouldn't come off the hook.Works great in this application. Early in the use cycle but will update if anything breaks.

solid product
if U've used the other ones of this, you know they're cheap junk. sure they last 6 months but it sucks being careful with it knowing its going to break. but put those baby teeth in the drawer:the action on this is smooth, i dont imagine it getting kinked when i pull it out slack$8 for one of these is perfectly reasonable.avoid $12 for 2 junk; they're shipping you two (2) because they're too sure one is broken lolcon: how shiny the couplings are

Steel wire not so high quality.
I got the 4 pack and have installed 3 of them on various doors. The installation is a breeze with the glue being super sturdy for the base as well as the hook piece. Having said that, one of these is being used extensively (8 out of 13 months) and the steel wire broke just broke off about 7 inches near the hook end. Have installed my remaining 4th piece there now. Let’s see how long this one lasts.

Wire Frayed & Adhesion Fails
At first it worked like a dream to keep my laundry room door (hollow) closed, but then it came off the wall and almost hit me when the adhesive failed. The wall was prepped and cleaned with no residue to prevent it from sticking properly. In 2.5 months, I've had to glue it back to the wall several times. I have an option to screw it to the wall. The current problem is that the wire within the box is frayed about 3 feet in, and it does not retract to where the metal stop is. It dangles and is now basically useless. Unfortunately, the window to return it is gone.

Works on glass slider!
I've seen other reviews saying this isn't going to work on a slider because it's not strong enough... I bought the two pack thinking worse case I'll put both on the door to double the strength...one works just fine. It's been there at least three months now. No more having to tell the kids to shut the dang door and my electric bill went down an average $15/month from it not being constantly left open...

Does it’s job
I ordered this for the door to my video studio because it’s a shared space with a lot of traffic. No one would close the stupid door because that’s to difficult for people to figure out. I didn’t want to spend a lot of money so I got this one. It works really good and was super easy to install. I highly recommend for those doors that kids and “adults” can’t figure out how to close behind them selves. Worked so well I bought two more.

Update as of 01/20/23 Works great hasn't ripped off wall I highly recommend mounting it 12 inches apart and The clear part is cheap and may brake if open door fast (word on street) Final update As of 02/05/23 The adhesive has Made the device fall off After about 5 months of use It finally has broken I highly recommend to not Open and hold the door as that's what made me assume the life span was coming to a end as I observed the adhesive make a RIP noise as I help the door open I then shut it and Pushed it back on before it ripped off but it still came off a day or 2 later after seeing it come apart from holding the door slightly open but Holding it open the mechanism is still working I will try and rig up somthing to hold the housing on the wall Wish me luck Updated update... Drilled 2 holes in my wall (didnt want to) To try and see if I could squeeze some more life out of this thing... I did I got a whole 13 days before I got wacked by it really hard as I opened my bedroom door with my hands filled Was unpleasant Overall I give this product a 3/5 Due to the fact it got the job done over the last 5 months Up untill it fell off the wall(Totally my fault opened it Hella hard and wide) Since then I've been having to mess with it every other day But for 10 bucks can't beat it I recommend the 2pack as you can get a second life for like 5 bucks more I'd pay around 8.99 for the product and for a 2 pack sub 14 bucks seems fair Item will last depending on usage Installing it properly will help it last ... Worth the 12 bucks... no Worth the 16 for 2...maybe Will buy again Yes...it's only like 10 bucks and saves me headache of Having my room door open for people's to snoop
