Great chair, if somewhat overpriced
I have had this chair for about 6 months now. It does exactly what you want an astronomy chair to do: seat you comfortably and sturdily, and have the seat height be quickly adjustable. And for this, the chair gets top marks. It is overpriced for what it is, but as a niche market item, I suppose that's the price you pay. I do wish the seat folded up more compactly; it juts out so I end up just unscrewing/removing it every time I put it away for storage. This only takes a minute or so, but it's one more thing you have to deal with. Another reviewer complained that the seat was not adjustable. I think this was likely meant as a joke? They show the seat installed on the WRONG side of the chair in their photo. At any rate, if you are feeling flush, I'd buy one. It makes the stargazing process that much more enjoyable.

Comfortable, sturdy chair
If you spend your nights peering through an eye piece on a telescope, having a portable, adjustable chair is a must. The constant bending for long periods can be a strain on the back and legs and cut a viewing session short. Fixed height chairs don't provide the adjustability needed when changing positions. This chair is sturdy and stable at all heights and the seat can be moved one handed to any position and locks into place. The feet are a bit small, so putting it on something to give them a wider base, or cutting tennis balls will do, will help when on grass. If you are handy with tools, you can build a chair like this and there are plans on the Internet to do so, but for the money and convenience, the Starbound is worth it. Definetly get it in white so you can see it in the dark.

A must have for astronomy, quality control could be better.
A sturdy chair with a cushioned adjustable seat. A must have for comfortable viewing at a telescope. And will definitely save me from back pain and I was surprised how comfortable the seat is. However I took a star off because one front leg was longer than the other by 1/4 inch and I will have to cut it down. Also, its expensive and I feel overpriced. It could easily be $50-75 less. But its the only one like this available so, that's what you have to spend.

Height Adjustment Works Perfectly
I had tried to use a folding tripod stool to sit on while using my Celestron XLT 8 inch SCT telescope. But there were times when I need to be sitting a bit lower or higher than this stool could adjust for. I find this chair very easy to set up and move around, plus it gives me all of the height or "depth" that I need. I also bought a folding umbrella which attachedes to the frame of the chair so that when I do solar viewing I can block the sun from my head and face. Note, though, that while the seat cushion can be moved up and down, it can't be folded up. Of course, you can completely remove the cushion if you are going to put it in your car to go to a star party, but that extra step is a bit of a bother. It would be nice if the cushion could be folded up when being transported. The chair is very, very stable because of the splayed pattern of the legs. That was a very clever idea particularly if you happen to be on an unlevel surface. By the way, the cushion is very comfy to sit on for any lengths of time

Works, potentially hazardous
I was attracted to this seat over the competition because it adjusts very low. But as the photos illustrate, the lower the seat is adjusted, the further forward the seat dangles, well in front of the legs. The only thing that will keep the whole thing from falling forward is the user's legs, strength and balance.Around regular chair height, enough of the seat is behind the legs that the hazard diminishes, and it becomes quite sturdy. The seat is easy to adjust: lift the seat front and the assembly slides up or down.At it's highest setting, my feet dangle about a foot off the ground, so, plenty of available height. My first inclination was to come back and look for competing products, but I don't see anything that looks clearly better, so I'll hold on to the boxes and try this out for a while.

A good astronomic chair makes the experience so much more pleasurable
You need a good observing chair. It helps you relax and assume a natural position, which will aid in your ability to see things. This chair is solid and highly adjustable. I prefer white as you can see it better in the dark. Highly.recommended!

Silly expensive but works well.
Easy to assemble. Fully adjustable seat height. Won't fold flat without partially disassembling. Haven't found a better option yet, but this is quite expensive for what amounts to an ironing board frame with a small cushion attached. Also, everything I order from Adorama arrives in a box that's been opened and not always with all the contents present. Double check your package when it arrives.

Small seat
It would have been 5 stars but the seat was a bit small. It is well built so Im keeping it.
