Have a horizontally opening residential mailbox door that the route carrier won't close?
Just perfect for that application. The only thing not included is the round felt pad. These are pads used on chair feet on tile or wood floors.(uxcell 60pcs Furniture Pads Round 1 1/4" Self Adhesive Self-stick Anti-slip Anti-scratch Felt Pads Floor Protector Beige). It's use in this application is to protect the magnet on the inner frame. You'll need to cut or punch a hole in the felt pad to fit around the magnet. This does two things...protects the magnet because it is a sintered ceramic material and will shatter if struck hard and also provides a semi soft close feature. The felt pad has adhesive on the back so you just stick it on the frame over the magnet. The other image is self explanatory as concerns the retract mechanism. Both the inside box and door hook plate are mounted adhesively with pre-applied mounting tape. Just clean the mount area with some alcohol then just peel and stick the units in place. The wire rope has two small hex collets already mounted. The small allen key is used to adjust the collet locked loop on the left of the image. I drilled a very small hole in the door mount plastic hook and inserted an equally small wood screw to adequately capture the loop so it wouldn't come off the hook.Works great in this application. Early in the use cycle but will update if anything breaks.

Works on glass slider!
I've seen other reviews saying this isn't going to work on a slider because it's not strong enough... I bought the two pack thinking worse case I'll put both on the door to double the strength...one works just fine. It's been there at least three months now. No more having to tell the kids to shut the dang door and my electric bill went down an average $15/month from it not being constantly left open...

Simple inexpensive solution
I got this for an outside door to our kitchen. Our dogs have figured out how to open that door so it was constantly hanging wide open. This simple solution helps prevent that. It's super easy to install. Once installed it pulls the door back when opened. The one drawback is that it's likely intended for light easy closing doors. My door is neither of those so when it pulls the door to close it, it doesn't get the door seated back in the door frame but it does pull the door to the frame. This works well enough for my use.

Not great.
Worked for the first three months and then the wire started fraying. Eventually, the wire wouldn’t go back into the hole on the device. Now it’s just sitting on my door frame basically digging a hole in the side of my door.

I works but...
Bought for the back door because my dog can open it to come in but didn't close so I'd discover the door wide open, letting all of the A/C out. I installed one of the units on the back door and it was perfect for our needs. We bought it in 2022 and the wire broke today, 01/09/2024, so we got about 1.5 years worth of usage. if the wire hadn't snapped, the wear on the case would have caused a failure for sure. The second one I installed on our front door but that unit gave out within 2 months of installation.

Small and cheap
This thing was a pain in the butt to put together with tiny screws and small parts. Ended up dropping the tiniest of screw and was unable to find it making this inoperable so never got to use it.

Perfect!
This worked perfect for what I needed and negated the other items I purchased, but not upset. Some nights my dog wants out and I'll leave the door slightly closed but unlatched so he can push it open to get back in. I keep thinking I wake when I hear him come in, but then 6AM comes and the doors been open for 5 hours and it's 40 degrees outside. Installed this on the upper door sill and stuck the plastic hooks on the metal door. I can just reach up and latch it when I let him out, leave the door unlatched and later he pushes it open, comes in, and the door closes completely. Then later, I unhook the wire and the door won't close on me when I don't want it to. I might start coming up with more uses for this and buy more!

Drilled 2 holes in my wall (didnt want to) To try and see if I could squeeze some more life out of this thing... I did I got a whole 13 days before I got wacked by it really hard as I opened my bedroom door with my hands filled Was unpleasant Overall I give this product a 3/5 Due to the fact it got the job done over the last 5 months Up untill it fell off the wall(Totally my fault opened it Hella hard and wide) Since then I've been having to mess with it every other day But for 10 bucks can't beat it I recommend the 2pack as you can get a second life for like 5 bucks more I'd pay around 8.99 for the product and for a 2 pack sub 14 bucks seems fair Item will last depending on usage Installing it properly will help it last ... Worth the 12 bucks... no Worth the 16 for 2...maybe Will buy again Yes...it's only like 10 bucks and saves me headache of Having my room door open for people's to snoop
