The Malinois

Bought this as a Christmas gift for my brother. It was ordered at the last minute and still arrived before Christmas! Very pleased with the quality and condition of the book. My brother loves it! Very pleased

I bought this in spite of the other poor reviews. Dumb. Kaldenback does no justice to his description of the Malinois. In fact, I went through with buying a Malinois puppy with this book as some background, and it was a disaster. Kaldenback does not begin to describe the drive and focus of a Malinois if the one I had to give back is an example. He indicates that a Malinois should have a strong and knowledgeable owner but did not make that imperative. A Malinois MUST have a strong and knowledgeable owner and any book on the breed has to make this clear. This book did not touch that.

Well written; provides good information

Although outdated but a very good book for your collection.

Thought it would be more detailed about the Malinois, but the information I picked up was useful regardless. I have a better understanding of KNPV and its initial purpose.

Purchased as a gift so really cannot give a fair review. Thinks my brother has found it useful. He loves dogs.

No substance to this book. Anyone could have written it. It was a waste of time and money. Would not recommend to anyone.

I am astonished by the bad reviews complaining that the book does not cover every possible topic. The book description clearly states that this book is a guide for training a police dog: Quote:"The Belgian Malinois, prized for its obedience in training and high energy levels, is becoming an increasingly popular breed in North American police departments. The United States Secret Service and the United States Armed Forces also use the Malinois extensively as a working dog. Jan Kaldenbach, a former dog handler and police officer, is a top breeder of Malinois and has supplied dogs to a number of police departments in North America. In this guide, he outlines the basics in selecting and training a Malinois as a police service dog. "Reading comprehension; a useful skill to develop when buying books.

Badly translated from Dutch to English. Old fashioned ideas, though I guess it worked for him at the time.

Interesante lectura. No es un manual. Son las experiencias del autor. Te sirve para entender lo básico de la raza más algunos tips. Prescindible. Yo compraría otro.
