Q: By running the 5/8" reamer to the stop will my hole be no larger than 5/8" ?

Hi, these 5/8 bridge reamers are tapered in the front for miss alignment of the holes but will produce a 5/8 diameter hole on the upper part of the reamer.

Q: i am wanting to use this to straight drill my knuckles (and keep hole flush) to accept tapered TRE inserts. is this the appropriate tool?

I did that on my xj, im no expert with your setup, had dirtbound steering and this tool worked out great, go slow
