Tow Ready 63227 Coupler Lock For Most 2 5/16" Couplers

I bought this 2 5/16" hitch lock for a new 25' Flying Cloud. It's wider than the hitch so it wiggles around once attached but I don't see a problem with that. 3 stars for ease of installation because the cylidrical lock is sometimes a challenge to get it locked properly.I did see a video of a competitor breaking a lock like this lock off a trailer with a crowbar. They wedged the crowbar inbetween the hitch and the raised front portion on the lock and pried until it broke off. I ground off that front portion so a crowbar doesn't have anything to pry against.Even so, locks are to keep honest people honest. Determined thiefs can disable any lock.

Very well built, For the price you can’t get anything better. ANY tounge lock on the market is breakable just understand that before you make your decision.I have a cordless grinder and saw all that agrees with me.. If someone wants it they will get it.This product is slim and a good deterrent, Pair it with some other protection and you’ll be fine. For the price you get a good quality product, I can’t speak on the longevity of it since i’ve only had it a month, But it’s been on and off many times and in the weather, No complaints out of me. I will purchase another in 2” to see if the quality is the same

At first I could not get this coupler lock to go over the flange on my trailer and fully seat. I took my "piece of wood tire chock" and whacked the lock to fully seat it and voila', it works and locks! It fits very tight, so I had to use my tire chock again to get it off. A trailer thief might have a more difficult time at it without being to noisy with a hammer or crowbar. That is why I like this thing, it's frustrating. I bought it after a would-be thief busted off another lock but must have been surprised in the act. We will see if this lock holds up! So far, so good.

Once you install it, it blends in with the trailer, black on black. I am debating on painting this bright yellow or red... I want the would be thief to see it and move on to the next house. I like the bottom side key access it, and everything works as it should. Fits my Carry-on 5X10GW trailer, and I also use a coupler lock as well.

The first one I received had either the wrong keys or defective lock. They did replace it with one that worked, but by the time I could check it and find that it would not fir my 2 5/16" trailer lock, my 30 day return period was past. I am not happy with this thing. It appears to me that it could have been made with larger tolerances to fit all 2 5/16" hitches as stated. It looks well built, but if it does not fit what is stated, it is not worth the time an effort I put into it.

This works great for my enclosed trailer, and seems to be the most common size for most trailer couplers. I really like this style over the others, because when its on, there's nothing that's easy to cut off on it. Also, the keyway sticks out the bottom of it, so it seems almost impossible for someone to get their balls under your coupler while it's on. To install it, you just slide it over your coupler flange, and push up the locking pin with your finger from underneath. It fits on my 2 5/16" coupler very nicely. Just enough room, but not too loose. It wiggles just a little, which is perfect.

Ive been using and buying these for years. They're durable and simple to use. I have 1-7/8, 2" and 4 2"-5/16.Mixing up the keys is a potential headache but other than that. Oh and I guess if you were to loose the keys. Not sure how you would get one off. But that's never happened to me as of yet. And that thought gives me comfort that no one else is going to get one off that shouldn't. A bit pricey but what isn't these days.

Bought this particular ball lock since I already own one for my 4x8 ATV trailer with 2" ball hitch. That one being well over 10 years old and still works. The keys on this older one have come apart but hope the new ones last better. They should being new and will handle them with better care. Bought this for a 2014 Salem Cruise Light travel trailer. Some thieves stole 3 trailers and and RV similar to ours from the storage lot we keep it at. Hopefully it deters any possible other thieves. It fit great with NO problems at all. Some reviews said lock wouldn't fit or that had to modify/cut hitch a bit. Not on this one. Would buy again.
