Try this music, I believe it will make you feel good, even if you don't recognize the music.
I am now collecting popular hits from the 1940s to see how it makes me feel. I have a theory that if we are exposed to music from our childhood, even if we do not know the tunes, we will have pleasant memories. This has proved true for me. These hits would have been on our radio, which was on most of the time at our house. I love music and also movies from early times, I actually "discover" them. It is as though I hear them for the first time. The CD arrived in perfect shape and lovely to hear.

Wonderful music, great memories
Bought this to use as part of an ongoing program with seniors at the local retirement community. We have coffee & cookies and social hour by the fire. They love the music and sometimes sing along. I do a bit of background research using the internet and share tidbits about the bands, composers and singers. Memories begin to flow. Excellent quality recording.

Not Bad
This was pretty good. Good music. There were more songs from that era I was looking for, but this collection isn't too bad at all.

Great Music for By-gone Era
This music was a great refresher course on what it took to keep Americans focused and upbeat during WWII. Also, proved why we were able to recover so quickly after the war. My five-star rating is based on the quality of this great by-gone era music as well as the quality of the sound.

#1 Hits of the 1940's
Those were my school years and I remember every word of all the recorded songs. Listening to this is such a trip through my memories. My husband picked out the songs he remembered when we were dating. This is a great recording for those who remember the times.

TOO LITTLE IN THE WAY OF SELECTIONS
With only 10 selections to choose from on this cd, I find that it is not truly representative of the 1940's. One can argue that this is a budget release but there could have been room for several other cuts extending the cd to 15 selections. There is no information on the insert so you have to dig for supporting documentaion on the selections presented. The reprodustion is ok and what is offered in the way of music is good.John Walsh

Times to remember; being an American was source of pride!
Feel the need to dance? to sing along? For those of the "greatest" generation or those youngsters who grew up during the apogee of American exceptionalism , an opportunity to relive the moments in time when this nation reveled in its humanity and military strength. 1941-1945 years during which the fate of the world relied upon the sacrifice and endurance of the American military.

My 87 mother with dementia - loves these old tunes -
Mom was a teenager when these songs were popular. Today at 87 she can't remember much but seems to remember all the words from these old songs which were so popular in her youth.
