I have always wanted to buy this soft start for my old travel trailer as my two paralleled A-iPower SC2000i (2000W starting/1600W running each - 4000W/3200W paralleled) inverter generators would occasionally trip out when starting/running my 13.5k btu AC. I sold that travel trailer and upgraded to a bigger TT and decided to definitely try the soft start, since the new TT came with a 15k btu AC. Price was better with the $30 off coupon, but the still high (almost the cost of another smaller generator!). Installation was super easy, and mounting was easy enough also, the downloaded instructions matched my unit 100%. It took longer to gather tools, find a ladder, remove the AC cover, and route wires, than it did to hook up the wires.After installation, the 15k btu AC fired up immediately with the generators in parallel and showed no distress even when cold. I tried to power the AC with just one generator and it lasted about 10 minutes before tripping out, but the one SC2000i is just short of power; I think a single 2200W generator would likely work as corroborated by some of the reviews for this product, but YMMV. I might give it a try again but I don’t mind carrying both generators along since I use the microwave, electric kettle, and other appliances when boondocking and want to ensure plenty of power. I’m just glad that my AC doesn’t struggle when starting up and worrying about keeping my family cool on the 100+ degree days.My TT has a 50 amp shore power cord which I adapted to a 30 amp, them dogboned to a 15 amp plug and plugged into my home 15 amp outlet. I was able to run the AC on the TT with no problems starting or running for hours, something that did NOT work with the old TT, which always tripped the home circuit breaker.Of course, I did not account for all the variables for my new TT:New TT AC is a Coleman Mach 15 HP2 15k btu and old unit was a Dometic (model unknown 13.5k btu)Is the newer AC more efficient or draws less starting/running watts than the old TT AC?I used the 30 amp plug on the single generator to power the AC before it tripped; should I try the 20 amp plug/adapter?My 1000W microwave will trip the breaker on a single generator hookup-maybe the problem is the generator?Anyway, I think I made a smart purchase. We have been off-grid already with the TT and had to fire up the AC via generators to cool down last month and didn’t have a problem. I even kept it on ECO mode which throttles the generator up and down to save gas and lower decibels when the load fluctuates, and the AC never made the generator throttle get anywhere close to max (my old Dometic unit would always have both generators’ throttles maxxed out, all the time), maybe each running at 50%.If you can afford this device, I say go for it. I think it’s given me peace of mind and I’m happy with my off-grid generator setup. RVs and TTs should really come with these devices as standard equipment, but I understand why they don’t. No regrets, even at the price point. Highly recommended if you use a generator to power your AC.

Installation was pretty straight forward except one confusing direction, but I called tech support, the friendliest guy on earth (Bill) answered on 2nd ring and we figured out the problem together in a matter of minutes. I can’t even hear the compressor come on now. Please be advised, mine was a Coleman Mach. The number they had me look for was in the capacitor box and my number was 1976 A 613. As i looked down the list, I saw 1976 613 and asssumed that was it. Build told me the instructions a for the “A” Model were a little bit different. So I might have been able to complete the install without help if I had found the correct instructions. All in all a very positive experience. Tech support is over the top amazing. I will recommend that you NOT wait until a 105º day to do the installation.

I installed this on my 13,500 Btu AC and then spent 5 days at my son's house where I plugged my camper into a regular 20 amp outlet (very few houses have the normal 30 amp camper outlet unless you install one). I ran the AC, microwave and anything else because the AC didn't trip the circuit when the AC started. I even purchased a 2350 watt inverter generator, which ran the AC in a test before the trip, but I never needed to run the AC with the generator on the actual trip. It wasn't hard to install (you need a little electrical experience) and it worked for the week I used it. I assume it will continue to perform as advertised.

Like many of you reading this right now, I purchased a smaller inverter generator with the goal of running the RV AC. Even if just the AC.Then I lit the gen, started the AC and watched it overload... It just didn't register until that moment that the startup rush was so immense.At this point I had already built a baffle box that made the generator virtually silent and that was the whole goal, stay quiet.So... I set out on options that would allow me to stay with one of the smaller inverter generators, I was up for anything. I found this and was a little hesitant. I figured hey, it's on Amazon I'll give it a whirl and if it doesn't work, I'll return it.Well, results ended up great.Install- They have almost every specific ac diagram and directions step by step. If you can splice a cut power cord, you can handle the install in 10-20min total rooftop time.Support- I can't speak on it as it wasn't necessary.Functionality- It does what it says! The startup rush is reduced to near normal running levels.The AC starts much smoother/quieter, I'd add it even if not for the generator aspect on future RV's.I had a hard time finding actual data or users write-ups to help my decision so here's what I have tested for those thinking things over:15kbtu coleman mach (2015) with softstart.My gen: generac gp3300i runs the ac like a champ at 5000ft in eco mode with an additional 1000w in inverter and blower draw.After success with this, my fellow RV buddies wanted to see how other small generators would handle the 15k unit with softstart so off we went...Buddies Honda eu2200- runs the Ac great, need to watch additional load. It handles momentary overloads really well, just watch total sustained consumption. Tested@3000ftBuddies Wen 2250- runs the Ac great, doesn't handle additional loads/momentary overloads very well. Tested@3000ftAll tests had been run in 90-95° weather.All tests ran for at least 6 hours.I hope this helps those thinking about it.It allowed the dream of running my RV anywhere, nearly silent to become a reality. I attached a pic of last weekends trip to dry site on the Blue Ridge Parkway.No longer being reliant on site power for AC, it really opened up when and where we can visit, especially with campgrounds and such so booked these days.

On peut également le faire fonctionner sans provoquer l’arrêt de notre onduleur (Inverter) - chargeur de 2000 watts, ce qui est un gros avantage en boondocking. Les instructions sont simples et l’installation est facile; seulement 5 fils à débrancher et rebrancher pour insérer le dispositif SoftstartRV à même le circuit d’alimentation du climatiseur. Le plus difficile est… de grimper sur le toit du motorisé ! Je suis très satisfait de la performance du SoftstartRV qui en plus réduit le bruit de fonctionnement lors du démarrage du climatiseur.

I received it last week and installed it on my 2015 lynx prowler was pretty easy to install as I’m not an electrician I just watch the video on YouTube and it work as advertised I run the a/c of a 3000 Honda generator and when I put the a/c the generator goes just a bit more then the idoling stage in my opinion a 2000 generator will definitely run itThanks
