What an amazing book! Love Lisa Jewell and she did not disappoint with the book she called 'bizarre'. It was different for sure but in a good way! The writing was amazing and had such a good level of detail but at the same time was easy to read and I flew through this book. Without giving anything away about the story itself this is a heart breaking novel that made me feel emotionally wrung out by the end! The ending is brilliant and that epilogue 💔5 stars for me. Definitely recommend

Although some elements of the plot were slightly predictable for an avid crime fiction reader, this was still a compelling read which caused me to stay up reading past my bedtime for several consecutive nights!

I don’t think I’ve ever read a book as fast as I read this, it’s an extraordinary tale, it’s written beautifully, although fictional it could so easily happen as there are a lot of strange and evil people in the world. It’s interwoven between Ellie who goes missing, her mother and, well you’ll have to read it to find out but believe you won’t be disappointed, enjoy.

One of the best psychological novels I've ever read . You'd have to have a heart of stone not to be affected by it . Absolutely brilliant.

Couldn't believe when I read the Prolouge as soon as I read " Ralps party I went back to early 2000s when I read her book & Loved it. As to remember a title fm so long agoAlso days before seeing it all the time I ordered it ..But had been thinking of the days when I lived in WSM....Weird right .Easy reading g & Need this after lots of Studying!Shame she bashed out 18 as I imagine they pretty much same theme ...Like Jenny Colgans .If anyone can recommend one of the 18 ! Or another that's good. Half way through already .Live a good easy read 📚 👌Just what I ordered at the right time! Laughed when I read the Prolouge! Synornisty 👌🙏✨️

I am a mess after finishing this one. I had so many different emotions running through me whilst reading it and I've come away with so many thoughts.I really enjoyed the way this was written from each person's perspective. I felt there was some extra scenes that weren't needed as the story itself was so good and I wish there had been a bit more suspense on who Ellie's kidnapper was overall I really enjoyed it!!

I didn’t think Lisa Jewell could surpass the stunning I Found You so I admit to being totally amazed by how much I adored Then She Was Gone. Not only did it surprise me by being a completely different storyline to the one that I had been expecting but it also brought some rather unexpected emotions to the surface and made me a blubbering, snotty mess at times! It had an intriguing plot and was beautifully written with some engaging character creations, especially Laurel with whom I shared a great deal of empathy right from the start.Laurels teenage daughter Ellie goes missing at the age of 15 leaving behind no clues as to what has happened to her. She also leaves behind a devastated family, possibly fractured beyond repair, so that years later Laurel appears to be living a very lonely life with limited and often awkward contact with her ex husband and grown up children. She seems shut off from life itself so will a chance encounter with an attractive stranger lead to an a new start for Laurel? But upon meeting his nine year old daughter Poppy, she is shocked to see in her a strong resemblance to Ellie. Is the truth about what happened to Ellie about to come out?I became heavily involved in this family drama remarkably quickly as I felt a huge amount of sympathy for this poor family. Ellie’s disappearance had affected each of them in very different ways but had ultimately also affected their relationships both within their family and with outsiders. As a parent myself I could only imagine the feelings of loss that must have faced Laurel and so felt pleased that she seemed to have found some happiness at last. But Lisa Jewell has bitten into the psychological thriller genre, taking a chunk out of our preconceived notions of plot development and chewed them up before spitting them back out again! Honestly, I was shocked at some of the twists that came along and tried to veer towards explainable reasons for what had occurred but nothing could have prepared me for what fate had in store for everyone.This book had a powerful and deeply emotional impact on me and I have to admit that I think it’s her best book yet. You will not be able to put it down until that very last word has been read and digested, leaving behind a small piece of your heart within those pages. So it comes highly recommended by me. I loved it!

Unbelievably amazing and the end…beautiful. The ending captured my whole being. Wow. Well written and very well executed. Worth more than 5 stars.

This is a book I have already and purchased it for a friend on her birthday. Really good storyline if you like mystery and a bit of suspense.

This book catch up out attention from beginning to the end. Awesome. I was just wondering a different endpoint but that was a incredible experience to read this book
