How to easily remove the outer plastic using heat. A hair dryer will work for this task.
Amazing product! I have used several rolls for numerous applications and after years it still holds up well... even on my roof in the AZ sun. With my first roll I too had issue with the outer plastic sticking to the roll but figured out that by using some heat, the outer plastic could be completely removed in a few minutes. A common hair dryer can work. Split the seem on the outer plastic and open the center so that the packaging plastic can be worked from both ends AND provide something to grab onto while removing. With this 4" x 50ft roll the weight of the product was enough to separate the outer plastic from the sticky edges when the heat was applied. Work in from the outer edge while heating until free into the middle, then proceed to remove all the way around. Be patient, work it slowly because if torn, that outer plastic will become hard to grab onto an edge to continue with the removal process. IMPORTANT: Once removed, cover the exposed edges with a tough, clean plastic that will not tear when pulled off. I used simple $1 store place mats on earlier rolls, on this recent purchase I used a couple clear plastic covers intended for a sheet of paper, (see photo).

Thick and super sticky
I used this product to cover the tops of deck joists in lieu of more expensive deck tape. It’ll be at least ten years before I know if it really works for that application. However, at this time I love this tape. It’s thicker and stickier then expected and I can think of dozens more uses for it. It stuck quite easily to the tops and sides of my PT joists without any rolling. I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars because it was so sticky that the edges of the tape stuck to the plastic packaging, making it a bear to get out of the bag. And most of the tape still has shards of clear plastic bag on its edge under my brand new decking.

Worth its weight in gold.....SUPER Sticky, totally affordable, and the best on the market to-date!
If you're wondering if this is the PERFECT tape for covering RV pop up camper seams, the answer is YES. I rebuilt the top of my 1996 Dutchmen Duck 1004 pop up camper and was bummed when I couldn't re-use the aluminum edging that was originally screwed into the roof.....until I found this butyl tape. In full disclosure, I used a product that is used in bathrooms to do the first application to cover the edges of the roof, but after finding this 4" tape, I decided to re-cover with the tape. I am SUPER glad I invested in this 50' roll as it covered both sides and the middle seam of my room and left some to spare. I will upload images shortly, but just know that this product is by far the best option out there for doing a quick, cheap, and effective job of keeping your pup dry. Also, I used elastomeric to cover my roof, and it stuck great to this tape....don't let the slick backing fool you...it will definitely hold some paint. The only think I would caution you against is getting the tape stuck to itself. Once this happens, you might as well cut and re-start. It is SUPER STICKY! This quality is what makes it the best in its league in my opinion!

Great product. Water tight seal in seconds even applied in cold weather.
We have a fleet of E450 Cutaway buses. One of my buses had developed a water leak inside. I found the problem, cracking caulk seams on the roof of the bus. Due to the freezing and near freezing temps recently I needed a quick temporary water tight fix that could hold out until the weather becomes a bit more friendly to the type of repair I need to do to fix the problem correctly. This tape is amazing. It was only about 32 degrees F when I applied the tape to the cleaned/prepared surfaces and the bond was instant and quite strong. It is also water proof. No more leaks. The "repair" is only a week old at this point but remains water tight and the tape is still flexible. Very happy with this purchase and I am actually purchasing a few more rolls right now, just to have around JIC.

Works great as deck tape
I am using this for deck tape along the top of the joists and other similar areas for an outdoor deck where you want to protect the wood from trapped moisture. It's cheaper than the brand-name tapes sold for this purpose, and works great. Previous reviews mention issues with paper release tape on the back. That has been fixed and the release "paper" is now a clear plastic. The tape is quite sticky, as it should be for the intended purpose. It also bonds pretty quickly, especially if it gets heated by the sun. I had to remove a section several hours after applying it, to fix a framing goof, and the tape was adhered extremely well to the wood. Had to destroy that bit of tape to get it mostly off. So don't use this for anything where you might want to remove it later.

Great tape
The tack is very sticky! So the tape does what it is supposed to, no doubt. That said, the install was at times a little frustrating, as the paper backing would tear and stay attached to the very sticky tape. As such, the seal would be compromised if you didn't stop and remove the paper backing that stuck to the back. Otherwise great product, and very quick shipping. If I need more, I'd buy again, and just take my time during application. Also, when cutting your lengths, use a razor blade, as scissors get all gummed up and don't cut a smooth line.

Great thick rubber tape for fixing leaking roofs and other such projects
This patching material is the absolute best for patching a leaky roof, which is what I used it for. I actually used it to patch a hole in the shed roof caused by a limb that broke off and poked a hole straight through the roof. Used a piece of flat aluminum to span the hole, then the tape over it in cascading layers from the bottom up - making sure the tape overlapped the hole for several inches on each side. It all went without a hitch -- other than the tape is extremely sticky -- sticks to the fingers of your gloves - but that is manageable. -- Above: one of the questions is: "Easy to Remove" -- which is a most absolute ridiculous question. It is NOT easy to remove -- and that's the whole point of its design. Once it's applied -- it is NOT coming up again without a lot of work -- so be very careful to apply it correctly the first time. This tape is highly recommended for repairs where water or moisture needs to be prevented from causing a problem.

Not the same product!
This is the 5th time I've ordered this. I've used it for just about everything you can think of and was very happy with it.BUT, it is noticeably thinner, maybe by half as much, and also definitely not as sticky! Very disappointed 😞
