My Life with the Wave

Softcover version - great children's book
I bought this copy to replace a hardcover version which was lost. I probably didn't read the description carefully, and was a little disappointed that it was a softcover smaller version meant for schools. However, the content seems the same and it was in very good shape.

Fantastic story for all ages
This is such an imaginative story with beautiful pictures. It has a disc that comes along that is excellent. You will feel very clever for having chosen it.

Beautiful story and artwork
Mark Buehner has become one of my favorite artists in the children's books genre. His depiction of the wave is very clever-- you can see the wave's "personality" even though she is not human. Mr. Buehner has adeptly portrayed the wave's emotions very well in each drawing. And the story is wonderful, too! (my favorite artwork in this book is the one on the last page -- with the cloud and the tiny lightning underneath it... very very very clever!).

One of the greatest children's books ever written
I give this book as a gift and use it every semester in my classroom.I used it when I taught in the school system and now that I teach future and experienced teachers, on the college level, I share it with them as well. The language is poetic (full of imagery and joy), the illustrations are vivid and delicious, and the story line is glorious!.Any age from 3 to adult will enjoy this marvelious story.

A treasure for young and old alike
Paz, a Noble poet, wrote the story on which this adaptation is based. The author has preserved the poetic quality in this lovely imaginative tale of a boy and a wave. Metaphors relating to the sea are sprinkled throughout and the illustrations(with hidden figures) are glorious. I have read, and on request, reread this magnificent tale to 1st - 8th graders in my school for many years. The kids and I never tire of it.Joan K.
